Congresswoman uses trunk full of rice to prove point to Big Oil

A Democratic congresswoman from California stunned some of the CEOs of Big Oil companies in a hearing on Thursday (28 October) with an impressive visual aid that showed just how much land they were hoarding.

Katie Porter used a car filled with bags of rice to show just how much land America’s biggest oil companies were holding on to, as she asked if they supported a pause on new oil and gas leases on federal land in the US.
