Moment passenger and freight trains burst into flames in Greece after head-on collision
CCTV footage shows the moment carriages burst into flames after a passenger train and freight train crashed head-on in Greece.
At least 43 people were killed and scores more were injured, making it the worst-ever train crash in Greek history.
Many of the victims were university students making their way back to Thessaloniki from a holiday weekend.
Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said the collision was “mainly due to a tragic human error” as he visited the site.
Transport minister Kostas Karamanlis resigned in the wake of the devastating incident out of respect for those killed.
