BBC boss says he will not resign over Gary Lineker row
BBC director general Tim Davie has confirmed that he will not resign over the Gary Lineker row, labelling Mr Lineker “the best in the business”.
When asked by BBC’s Nomia Iqbal if he should resign, Mr Davie replied “absolutely not” and added he looks forward to “resolving this situation”.
BBC boss has also apologised to audiences for the disruption to the corporation’s sports programming schedule after the BBC One schedule has been updated to show that Match Of The Day will now air for only 20 minutes.
Lineker has been embroiled in a row over impartiality after comparing the language used to launch a new government asylum policy with 1930s Germany.
