Ava White: Hundreds of mourners release balloons in emotional vigil for Liverpool schoolgirl, 12, stabbed to death

Hundreds of mourners released balloons into the sky during a vigil in Liverpool for 12-year-old stabbing victim Ava White.

Ava was attacked on 25 November, near to where the vigil was held in Church Street after the city's Christmas lights were switched on.

Organiser Anthony Goudie read a message from Ava's cousin and Cllr Anna Rothery spoke about eradicating knife crime.

The Radio City tower was lit up blue in memory of the Year 8 student at Notre Dame Catholic College.

According to police, Ava died from "catastrophic injuries".

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with her murder.
