King Charles III waited a lifetime to become monarch and fulfilled his destiny when he was crowned in a service watched by millions around the globe.

In delightfully British fashion, the weather didn’t quite hold up for the new monarch, but no amount of rain could dampen a special ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

The royal family then returned to Buckingham Palace, where they watched the flypast and waved to crowds gathered along The Mall.
