THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Carbis Bay Estate is set within 125 acres, with its own private blue flag beach, views across to St Ives bay and direct access to the South West Coast Path. Just a five-minute drive or a 25-minute walk along the coastal path will take you to the centre of St Ives, with its host of independent boutiques, eateries and artist studios. Pick up the coastal path into St Ives, where you will find the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Gardens, as well as the Tate St Ives.

By car: 5 hours 30 minutes from London, 3 hours 30 minutes from Bristol, and 7 hours from Manchester. Free parking available.

By train: London Paddington to St Erth takes around 5 hours. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from the station. Book trains to St Erth.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

The main hotel fuses historic grandeur with a modern coastal element - a blend of gilt mirrors and chandeliers with calming palettes, reminiscent of the sea - whilst beach lodges ooze a laidback beach-chic vibe, clad with sustainable timber, large open-plan living spaces and private gardens with hot tubs. Interiors maximise the sea views, bringing the outside in, perfect for a romantic break.

From a light lunch, afternoon tea and evening tapas at the Orangery to relaxed seasonal plates at The Beach Club with its modern-chic design, and the sleek interiors of Walters on the Beach where guests can indulge in stylish Cornish fine dining with a bounty of fresh fish and seafood with a backdrop of views across St Ives Bay. There's also the much-lauded Ugly Butterfly, headed up by Adam Handling - offering 65 covers, with private dining for ten people.
