Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

FAME MMA hold their first card in the United Kingdom tonight, with a host of familiar faces involved in the action.

The UFC is far from the only organisation involved in the sport of mixed martial arts. In recent years a number of competitors have started putting on shows, with FAME MMA holding their first event in Poland last year.

Since then they have grown in size and their first UK card is headlined by a grudge match between Geordie Shore stars Sam Gowland and Marty McKenna.

The show was originally supposed to be headlined by a fight between reality stars Scotty T and Stevie Bear, only for the former to pull out just five days before the fight.

But don’t worry – Dapper Laughs is still involved. Here’s everything you need to know.

When is FAME MMA UK?

The card takes place today: Saturday 14 December.

What time is it?

The event will get underway at 8pm. Expect the main event to take place around 10.30-11pm.

Where is it?

FAME MMA UK takes place on December 14 2019.

How can I watch and stream the event?

The event will not be shown live on British television.

However, it is available to stream for £12.95 on FAME MMA’s website.

Who is on the card?

Main event: Sam Gowland vs Marty Mckenna [Reality TV stars]

Co main: Ally Law vs Joseph Hendo [YouTubers]

Joel JMX vs Wojtek Gola

Dapper Laughs v Harvey

Callum Markie v Casey Barker

Ashley Marie v Georgia Harrison

Andrew Henderson v Mike Fox

Seconds out, round two.

A good start from Gowland! He wrestles McKenna to the ground and looks to take the mount position.

Vithushan Ehantharajah14 December 2019 23:37

McKenna has turned round and Gowland has his neck!

Can he sink the rear naked choke?

He can! He's done it!

Vithushan Ehantharajah14 December 2019 23:38

Gowland defeats McKenna via submission (rear naked choke) in the second round.

Vithushan Ehantharajah14 December 2019 23:38

Some really impressive technique from Sam Gowland.

Vithushan Ehantharajah14 December 2019 23:40

Gowland: "I'm over the moon. Fair play to Marty, he was a lot stronger than I thought. But I'm better technically, fitter and stronger. And I fucking won!"

Vithushan Ehantharajah14 December 2019 23:41

Gowland: "When's the next FAME MMA? I'm ready. English or Polish I don't care, I'll fight anybody."

Vithushan Ehantharajah14 December 2019 23:41

McKenna: "I'm disappointed. I wanted to have a proper fight. But he's been doing the ground stuff. If it was a K1 fight it would have been different. I'll do it again with Sam but I have to focus on the ground game because it wasn't good enough. It was shite. Proper shite. If it was stand and bang it would have been different."

Vithushan Ehantharajah14 December 2019 23:42

The crowd boo McKenna. He tells them to f*** off.

Vithushan Ehantharajah14 December 2019 23:43

And that's that! What an extraordinary night of nonsense.
