Your support helps us to tell the story

My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.

Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.

Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

Conor McGregor suffered the second defeat of his UFC career after being submitted by unbeaten UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in arguably the biggest event in the history of the UFC, but the fight descended into chaos immediately after it ended as both fighters were involved in post-match brawls.

A typically acrimonious build-up to the fight, with McGregor ending up in a New York courtroom after he attempted to attack his rival backstage at a UFC event in April, unsurprisingly led to bad blood between the pair, but no one was prepared for the scenes that followed the fight.

After dominating McGregor throughout the first three rounds, Khabib choked McGregor out to force him into submitting, but reacted by jumping over the Octagon fence to confront his teammates, while members from his own stable jumped into the Octagon to attack McGregor. Re-live all the action here.

On what happens next

"This is going to be ugly."

On a potential rematch

"We have to see what happens with the NSAC. We have to figure that out, I'm not thinking about that stuff right now."

Adam Hamdani7 October 2018 07:59

On if he plans to play peacemaker between Team Khabib and McGregor

"These are groups of people who do not like each other. I don't think that's going to change, they won't be hugging it out and becoming friends."

Adam Hamdani7 October 2018 08:01

That's it for Dana White in the press conference. Now let's wait and see if Khabib does make an appearance...

Khabib has arrived for his post-fight press conference! Live updates to follow.

Khabib's first words

"What's up guys. I want to say sorry to the athletic commission, sorry to Vegas. This is not my best side, I'm a human being and I don't know how people can talk about me jumping out the cage.

"What about him talking about my family, my religion, the bus? Why are people talking about me jumping over the cage? My father talks to me about respect."

Adam Hamdani7 October 2018 08:06

On McGregor

"They call him a two-time champion, two-weight world champion but he taps. People, the media change MMA. This is a respect sport, not a trash talking sport. Guys, you cannot talk about religion. This stuff is important.

"I know my father is going to smash me when I go home, Nevada, sorry, Vegas, sorry. Thank you so much, I am very proud.

"Putin just called me and told me he's very proud of me, he said congratulations. I said everything was going to change on October 6th."

Adam Hamdani7 October 2018 08:08

That's it, Khabib leaves the press conference and the event that was UFC 229 is officially over.
