From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Game, set, match! Nadal withstands late Khachanov challenge
Nadal wins the tie-break 7-3 to complete a straight-sets win over Khachanov (6-1 6-4 7-6). That was a good test for Rafa against one of the game's rising stars. The Spanish fourth seed will take on 16th seed Gilles Muller on Monday.
Next up on Centre Court today: Andy Murray.
Williams takes opening set
Venus Williams was trailing Japan's Naomi Osaka 3-0 in an opening-set tie-break but won seven points in a row to go a set up on Court One.

At 30-30 Murray delivers an ace down the T followed by an unreturnable serve out wide to keep his nose ahead in this opening set.
Murray 5-2 Fognini* (*denotes next server)
A sloppy couple of points put Murray under the cosh at the start of his service game but Fognini misses a couple of returns to bring the game back to 30-30. A wayward forehand slice by Murray gives his opponent break point... but the Briton saves it with a precise serve-forehand combo before an ace and an unreturnable serve seal the game.
Williams wins in straight sets
Venus Williams wins 7-6 6-4 against Japan's Naomi Osaka to seal her place in the last 16.
The conclusion of that match signals the end of today's action in the women's singles event.
Murray 6-2 0-1 Fognini* (*denotes next server)
A double fault at 30-30 gifts Fognini a break point but Murray fends it off with an ace out wide. However, powerful groundstrokes from the Italian force a forehand error from the Briton in the next point and a well-executed drop shot seals an early break for the Italian in this second set.
Murray* 6-2 2-4 Fognini (*denotes next server)
A successful challenge seals the game for Fognini as Hawk-Eye confirms a Murray groundstroke landed just long.
