Today Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, who have won 10 titles at SW19 between them, will attempt to do the same when they take on Alexandr Dolgopolov and Martin Klizan respectively on Centre Court.
One player who they won't want to follow in the footsteps of is Stanislas Wawrinka. The world No 3 was the biggest casualty of the opening day, losing in four sets to the world No 49 Daniil Medvedev.
Also in action on Tuesday is women's No 1 Angelique Kerber, the reigning US Open champion and a finalist here last year.

Gasquet takes third set against Ferrer
Richard Gasquet is a third of the way to completing a mammoth turnaround against Spain's David Ferrer. French 22nd seed Gasquet dropped the first two sets but has just clinched the third 7-5.
Mikhail Youzhny, meanwhile, has beaten Nicolas Mahut, he of the 2010 marathon match against John Isner, in straight sets (6-2 7-5 6-4) on Court Four.

Haas waves goodbye to SW19
Thirty-nine-year-old Tommy Haas has taken to Instagram to say farewell to Wimbledon after his four-set defeat by Ruben Bemelmans last night.
The former world No 2 is unlikely to extend his career beyond the end of this year.
World No 1 Kerber wins
Angelique Kerber is through to the second round with minimal fuss after a straight-sets win over Irina Falconi (6-4 6-2) on Centre Court.
Next up: Novak Djokovic.
Gasquet loses in four to Ferrer
David Ferrer has dumped out Richard Gasquet, the 22nd seed, in four sets.
The 35-year-old Spaniard isn't the force he was three or four years ago but this result proves he's still got a big performance in him.
Del Potro ousts Kokkinakis
Juan-Martin del Potro is into the second round after a four-set win over dangerous Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis.
The Argentine dropped the second set but won the key third-set tie-break before going on to also claim the fourth set and, with it, the match (6-3 3-6 7-6 6-4).
Djokovic* 2-2 Klizan (*denotes next server)
There have been no breaks of serve so far between Novan Djokovic and Martin Klizan but there is some concern for the health of the underdog. Klizan's calf is heavily strapped and you have to wonder if it will be possible for him to finish the match should it go to four or five sets.
Brit watch
There are three Britons currently in action at SW19.
In the women's draw Katie Boutler, the wildcard ranked 238 in the world, has just taken the first set against world No 60 Christina McHale (6-3).
Meanwhile James Ward and Brydan Klein are both on serve in the first sets of their respective matches against Marcos Baghdatis and Yuichi Sugita.

Novak Djokovic is a set and a break up on Centre Court against a clearly-injured Martin Klizan.
More women's seeds exit
Shuai Zhang and Lauren Davis, the 30th and 28th women's seeds respectively, have both been eliminated at the first hurdle.
Viktorija Golubic beat Zhang 6-3 6-7 6-1, while Varvara Lepchenko ousted Davis 6-4 7-5.
