Wimbledon: Emma Raducanu on why she 'couldn't say no' to playing mixed doubles with Andy Murray

Andy Murray headlines today’s Wimbledon action as he begins his men’s doubles quest alongside brother Jamie in a busy day four schedule at the championships.

Scheduled to play the final match on Centre Court this evening, Murray begins his Wimbledon swansong following surgery to remove a spinal cyst last month. He pulled out of the men’s singles on Tuesday preferring instead to focus on the doubles where he will also feature alongside Emma Raducanu in the mixed event. The Murrays take on Australian pair Rinky Hijikata and John Peers, while five other British players feature across the two main show courts.

British wildcard Jacob Fearnley gave Novak Djokovic a scare on Centre Court after forcing a fourth set, but was beaten by the seven-time champion in a thriller. Harriet Dart stunned British No 1 Katie Boulter in the third-set tiebreak before Jack Draper faces former British No 1 and Wimbledon semi-finalist Cameron Norrie in another all-British clash on Court No 1.

Wimbledon 2024: Jacob Fearnley 3-6 4-6 7-5 2-1 Novak Djokovic*

Mixed volleying fortunes for Fearnley, who gets one forehand terribly wrong but pulls off a tricky backhand at the net.

He brings up 40-15, ultimately, and wrongfoots Djokovic with a forehand into the corner! That winner seals the hold.

Wimbledon 2024: Katie Boulter 6-4, 1-6, 6-6 Harriet Dart – 6-6 in tie-break

Boulter has to be careful not to offer Dart a way back into this, as she gets too much on the return and fires it long to make it 6-4.

Dart to serve, and it’s 6-5 after Boulter rifles the return far past the baseline! Unbelievably, we have 6-6 after another unforced error from Boulter!

Wimbledon 2024: Katie Boulter 6-4, 1-6, 6-6 Harriet Dart – 6-3 in tie-break

Dart’s serve is weak and it sets up Boulter to guide a simple shot past the British number two.

Boulter is beginning to assert herself now, as she drags Dart to one side of the court before rifling a cross-court winner past her for 5-2. Dart then crashes a backhand against the net for 6-2.

Dart isn’t out of this yet though, as Boulter crashes her own return against the net.

Wimbledon 2024: Jacob Fearnley 3-6 4-6 7-5 1-0 Novak Djokovic*

A really fun rally as Djokovic forces a tweener out of Fearnley, who goes for the lob variation...

He can’t quite beat Djokovic with that, but the Serb’s smash is weak, and Fearnley extends the rally again. But then Djokovic pulls off a brilliant pass!

Back and forth the points go. Fearnley with terrific consistency and seeming comfortability on his forehand in one rally.

He holds serve with an ace!

Wimbledon 2024: Katie Boulter 6-4, 1-6, 6-6 Harriet Dart – 3-2 in tie-break

Boulter gets the early break as Dart double faults!

The British number one then fires a shot against the net, before a great serve sets her up to clip a cushioned shot past Dart near the net on the far side.

Wimbledon 2024: Katie Boulter 6-4, 1-6, 6-6 Harriet Dart*

Three unforced erros from Boulter hand Dart a 40-0 lead, before she fires an ace past Boulter! We’re heading to a 10-point tie-break.

Wimbledon 2024: Katie Boulter 6-4, 1-6, 6-5 Harriet Dart*

Brilliant from Boulter as her first two points are both good winners, firing shots past Dart for 30-0.

Another rally begins, but it ends after Dart hooks a return past the baseline for 40-0.

Dart gets back in it as she forces Boulter to loop a shot into the base of the net, before firing a superb return down the line from the serve.

And we’re at deuce after an error from Boulter as she fires wide when trying to guide it down the line!

And now Dart has the advantage, but she can’t take it as Boulter fires a shot past after the longest rally of the match so far (at 21 shots).

And Boulter takes the game after forcing the error with a powerful serve! 6-5 to the British number one in the decider.

Wimbledon 2024: Jacob Fearnley* 3-6 4-6 7-5 Novak Djokovic – SET!

Fearnley chips a return of serve long on the forehand. 15-0. He then nudges a backhand long after a short rally. 30-0.

He angles his next backhand nicely, though, and Djokovic’s own two-hander stops at the tape. 30-15.

Another error by Djokovic for parity in this game. 30-30.

WOW! Twice Fearnley almost has Djokovic beaten at the net, but the Serb gets volleys back on both wings... but his third volley is in the net!

Break point and set point to Fearnley! And Djokovic pushes a forehand wide!

SET TO FEARNLEY! The crowd is on its feet!!

Wimbledon 2024: Jacob Fearnley 3-6 4-6 6-5 Novak Djokovic*

Both players miss on the backhand in this game, but Djokovic does so too many times, eventually shoveling one long to allow Fearnley a hold to serve for 6-5...

Well, well, well...

Wimbledon 2024: Katie Boulter 6-4, 1-6, 5-5 Harriet Dart*

Dart’s first two points are easy enough, with Boulter making the errors to hand her a 30-0 lead.

Boulter swings the backhand into the net, and it’s 40-15.

And then we’re at 5-5 as Boulter fires another return long.
