From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Scot, who returned to SW19 with a bang in the men's doubles on Thursday, finally gets his mixed doubles campaign underway alongside 23-time Grand Slam champion Williams after being made to wait by teenage sensation Cori Gauff on Friday evening. Murray was also in men's doubles action alongside Pierre-Hugues Herbert earlier in the day. Elsewhere eight-time champ Federer continued his march to what he hopes will be another All England title while Nadal faced Jo Wilfried Tsonga in the match of the day on Centre Court.

MATCHES TO BE ARRANGED NOT BEFORE 17.30
Andy Murray (GBR) / Serena Williams (USA) or Andreas Mies (GER) / Alexa Guarachi (CHI) 6
Murray/Williams 4-2 Mies/Guarachi* (40-40)
Murray smashes a backhand through Mies, but then misses a forehand down the line, into the net, when Mies was beaten!
Deuce. Again.
*Murray/Williams 4-3 Mies/Guarachi
Fair play to Mies and Guarachi, who win the game with a combination of strong serves and excellent volleys (x2).
Murray and Williams still with the break though, Serena to serve next.
Murray/Williams 5-3 Mies/Guarachi*
Murmurs of 'nice serve' from Murray as Williams holds to 15, with some super serves which hit the line from 30-15...
They're a game away from taking this first set...
Murray/Williams 5-3 Mies/Guarachi* (40-40)
Mies and Guarachi save two set points, just, despite Williams' best efforts to keep the point alive at the net....
Murray/Williams 5-3 Mies/Guarachi* (Ad Murray/Williams)
Serena hits a return winner cross-court, off Mies' second serve! Stunning shot!
Murray/Williams 5-3 Mies/Guarachi* (40-40)
Amazing! Serena reacts to a net cord, then stays crouched down on the floor as Mies smashes twice, but Murray can't claw the second one back!
Centre Court is loving this!
Murray/Williams 5-3 Mies/Guarachi* (40-40)
Game point chance for Mies/Guarachi but Murray smashes a return back which Guarachi can only volley long. Back to deuce.
*Murray/Williams 5-4 Mies/Guarachi
Once again, Mies and Guarachi escape on their service game, and it's 5-4, but Murray will now serve for the first set.
COURT 1 UPDATE
Britain's Dan Evans did have a break in the fourth set but it's now back on serve art 4-4.
A reminder that Sousa is two sets to one up....
