From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Murray won his first match in the men's doubles alongside Pierre-Hugues Herbert as the pair prevailed 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-0. Murray will return to the court on Friday alongside Williams after the American recovered from losing the first set to Slovenian qualifier Kaja Juvan.
Elsewhere, Nadal's blockbuster clash with hothead Nick Kyrgios lived up to its billing with a fiery encounter both on court and afterwards. Johanna Konta beat Katerina Siniakova to reach the third round, while Roger Federer ended the hopes of British hopeful Jay Clarke in the day’s second match on No 1 Court.

COURT 1 UPDATE
Well, well, well, could we have a story here?
Serena Williams has dropped the first set 6-2 to Kaja Juvan, who is ranked 133 in the world!
Williams does have an early break in the second set though, 1-0.
Kyrgios 3-6 1-0 Nadal*
A hold to 15 for Kyrgios, predominantly due to some gigantic (135mph+) serves.
The Aussie has already changed ends and is waiting to return, while Rafa is still drinking his water - in terms of time taken between points, these two are on a different planet.
Kyrgios 3-6 1-0 Nadal* (15-40)
TWO BREAK POINTS FOR KYRGIOS! At 15-30, a HUGE forehand down the line clinches the point, Rafa only able to slice into the net.
What a chance this is...
*Kyrgios 3-6 2-0 Nadal
KYRGIOS BREAKS, AND WHAT A WAY TO DO IT!
An absolutely mammoth point, both players side-to-side, until Kyrgios lets rip with a forehand down the line!!! Stunning shot, and Kyrgios is pumped! He has the break!
*Kyrgios 3-6 2-0 Nadal (15-40)
In typical Rafa fashion, he responds straight away!
Set off with a big forehand winner off return, and a few Kyrgios errors to follow, the Spaniard has TWO BREAK BACK POINTS...
Kyrgios 3-6 2-0 Nadal (40-40)
WOW! Kyrgios saves the first, and then saves the second with a brilliant backhand volley crosscourt, when Rafa only had to go the other way into the open court to seal the break!
Deuce.
Kyrgios 3-6 3-0 Nadal*
Kyrgios holds, with his big serve getting him out of trouble!
A big "YES!" follows, and boy do we have a match on here!
