From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Murray won his first match in the men's doubles alongside Pierre-Hugues Herbert as the pair prevailed 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-0. Murray will return to the court on Friday alongside Williams after the American recovered from losing the first set to Slovenian qualifier Kaja Juvan.
Elsewhere, Nadal's blockbuster clash with hothead Nick Kyrgios lived up to its billing with a fiery encounter both on court and afterwards. Johanna Konta beat Katerina Siniakova to reach the third round, while Roger Federer ended the hopes of British hopeful Jay Clarke in the day’s second match on No 1 Court.

Kyrgios 3-6 4-3 Nadal* (30-30)
Kyrgios hits a backhand wide, just. Still two points from the game is the Aussie...
Kyrgios 3-6 4-3 Nadal* (30-40)
BREAK POINT KYRGIOS!
Kyrgios approaches, Nadal whips a forehand but the Aussie saw it early, and hits another deft drop volley into the open court.
*Kyrgios 3-6 5-3 Nadal
KYRGIOS BREAKS!
Nadal nets a forehand mid-rally and Kyrgios breaks again! He will now serve for the second set...
Engrossing stuff.
Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 Nadal*
KYRGIOS WINS THE SECOND SET!
A hold to 15. Big serves, big forehands, big volleys you name it. Rafa hits a return long, and we're all-square on Centre!
Don't. Go. ANYWHERE!
*Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 0-1 Nadal
Rafa was getting booed by the crowd before the game begins, as Kyrgios was waiting to play and Rafa, as he always does, taking his time.
Once the game starts though, it's Rafa from the off - he holds withe ease to love.
Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 1-1 Nadal*
Kyrgios wins a stunning first point, via a volley lob which Rafa gets back, then a smash which Rafa nets.
Some big serves thereafter, and despite a sloppy error at 40-0, another ace down the T finishes it off!
Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 1-1 Nadal* (15-0)
DRAMA! Rafa hits a 2nd serve out, Rafa challenges and it's a whisker in.
Rafa wins the point, as the umpire deemed the call not to come late and Kyrgios' return wasn't in play.
As you can imagine, Kyrgios not a happy bunny...
*Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 1-2 Nadal
Following that controversial start, Rafa secures the game to love, with no fuss at all.
Kyrgios berating his box about the call, and, well, just about everything else he's unhappy with.
He continues his discussions with the umpire as we change ends... love him or hate him, you can't take your eyes off him!
