From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

We're about 15 minutes from Alison Riske and Serena Williams on Centre Court!
We'll also be posting updates from Court No 1 - the first match is seventh seed Simona Halep, who beat 15-year-old Coco Gauff yesterday, against Chinese player Shuai Zhang.
Alison Riske and Serena Williams are out on court - this is their first ever meeting.
Riske is in superb grass court form - she won an ITF event in Surbiton, before winning her first WTA title in four years in the Netherlands a week later.
Williams, the seven-time champion, has spent the least amount of time on court out of all the players in the last eight. This is the first of two matches she's playing on Centre Court today, as later on she will play with Andy Murray in the mixed doubles.
*Riske 0-1 Williams
Williams holds to 30, but a solid start from Riske, who sliced a drop shot just wide to give the opening game to Williams.
Two flat-hitting players here, perfect for a decent grass court match-up.
Riske 1-1 Williams*
A big Williams return at 0-15 sets the tone - she is latching onto anything short from Riske...
A forehand winner follows, but a Riske body serve brings the score to 30-30.
An ace out wide by Riske, and an overhit Williams return concludes the game - Riske holds serve to 30.
Riske 1-1 Williams* (40-40)
Riske doesn't look overawed by the occasion so far.
A beautifully struck backhand winner from the unseeded American brings her to 30-30, but an ace from Williams and an overhit backhand from Serena means we have our first deuce game of the match.
