From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

51 mins: Front row change for the Lions as Mako Vunipola is replaced by Jack McGrath.
56 mins: And from the restart Kruis drops it. The Lions' momentum has been swallowed up. Sexton is on at fly-half with Farrell moving into centre ahead of Te'o, who has been a monster in defence today.
60 mins: The Lions have to survive this or it's over. The All Blacks are forcing them to do some monumental defending. Warburton puts in a huge tackle but Sexton concedes the penalty. Discipline again the problem. Barrett nails the easy kick. 23-8.
69 mins: TRY NEW ZEALAND!
Ioane races away to score! Sexton, who has been poor since coming on, loses it with a wasteful pass and the All Blacks kick it high. Williams misses the catch and the 20-year-old is away. There's no stopping him. Barrett slots the conversion and it's game over. 30-8.
71 mins: Halfpenny replaces the heroic Williams at full-back. Overlooking that mistake under the high ball, he has been phenomenal.
