Following two early penalties from Tommaso Allan, France hit back to take the lead through a converted try from Antoine Dupont, with Romain Ntamack adding a further three points before the break.
The visitors stretched their lead afterwards as wing Yoan Huget scored to give them breathing space, but Italy clawed their way back into the match when scrum-half Tito Tebaldi went over for a try. Italy then looked to have scored a second try when debutant Marco Zanon went over, but Damian Penaud wisely dislodged the ball out of his hands and followed up by scoring a well-executed try minutes later to seal the win. Wales 7-0 Ireland, 15 minutes
Keith Earls takes the up-and-under superbly, and James Ryan makes good metres in a wider channel on the left as space opens up.
Wales 7-0 Ireland, 16 minutes
Josh Adams responds with a strong take of his own, and that enables Wales to go to the skies again, a well-assembled phalanx on the chase.
And they draw the penalty. Johnny Sexton ventures into the ruck while on his knees as he tries to retain possession, and Angus Gardner is swift on the whistle.
Gareth Anscombe will go for goal from distance, in the wind and the rain. It's a toughie...
PENALTY! Wales 10-0 Ireland (Gareth Anscombe penalty, 18 minutes)
Excellent kick. Over with five metres to spare.
Hadleigh Parkes claimed Gareth Anscombe's chip to open the scoring early on as Wales got off to the perfect start in their Grand Slam decider.
Wales 10-0 Ireland, 20 minutes
Ireland have gotten on the wrong side of Angus Gardner at the breakdown and thus a 50-50 call goes against them, in at the side the decision.
Josh Navidi charges through a pair of Irish tacklers from the subsequent line out, the defenders just about clinging on, and then Ireland are offside again.
Gareth Anscombe's chip comes to nothing. Wales penalty.
Or not!
Penalty reversed.
Gareth Davies impetuously flopped on top of Bundee Aki after the inside centre caught the kick and the penalty will be Ireland's.
Parkes followed up his score with a try-saving tackle on Jacob Stockdale. Parkes life...
Wales 10-0 Ireland, 23 minutes
Ireland now generate a string of penalties as the game takes on a scrappy nature, and after Gareth Anscombe claims Johnny Sexton's hoist comfortably, we'll go back for the penalty.
Sexton goes to the corner, and Ireland will set the line out six metres out.
Wales 10-0 Ireland, 24 minutes
James Ryan claims ahead of Adam Beard.
Here goes the maul. There's go forward, but Beard has got his hands on the ball.
And Wales slow it, and eventually bring it to floor.
Turnover. Superb defence. Justin Tipuric right amongst things.
