From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Follow the latest updates from the Six Nations clash between France and Ireland in the Championship decider at the Stade de France.

After 14 games, four rounds and the longest Six Nations championship in history, the final round is set to be completed in Paris as both France and Ireland go for the title. England will be watching on hopefully following their final match against Italy in Rome, with Eddie Jones’s side the other team with title hopes well and truly alive - though they depend on the result of this match.

Ireland will win the Championship by one one three ways: by claiming a bonus-point victory, by beating France by seven points or more, or by beating France by six points as long as they score a try. If Ireland beat France by six points without a try, the title will be shared with England, while a five-point win or worse will hand England the spoils. The Rugby World Cup finalists will also win the Six Nations if France win, unless Les Bleus can claim an unlikely 31-point win with a bonus point to boot. Follow the live updates below.

35 mins: Italy 5-10 England

England get the shove on in the scrum, resulting in a turnover penalty, and the big whooping and celebrations from England irk the Italian forwards that gives them another 10 metres on the penalty. Slade uses his left boot to find touch before halfway, and England escape.

Underhill meanwhile is still bleeding profusely from his head, and Ben Earl comes on with the flanker needing more attention.

34 mins: Italy 5-10 England

Italy get another brilliant driving maul former, although Hill and Itoje are quickly onto the ball, and although the maul is driven over the line ther’es no way it’s going to be grounded. That said, it’s over the line and that means Italy get the put-in for the scrum.

33 mins: Italy 5-10 England

Italy win another penalty and they’re getting stuck into this, with Mako Vunipola judged to have pulled down a driving maul that was really going places. Tasting blood, Italy go to the corner…

31 mins: Italy 5-10 England

It all kicks off as Itoje is penalised for jumping into the opposite line at the lineout, and the two sets of forwards square up just as Hill returns to the affray. There’s nothing in it, and Italy have a penalty that they send to touch inside the English 22.

30 mins: Italy 5-10 England

As the game pauses to allow Underhill to get treatment on a fairly large cut to his head, here’s a look at the opening Ben Youngs try…

27 mins: Italy 5-10 England

Italy kick deep to Watson, who plays it in-field to Furbank, and the full-back does well to beat replacement Mori - who’s on for Padovani’s HIA - to find touch well inside the Italian half. That could help settle the Northampton Saints back.

25 mins: Italy 5-10 England

A spot of aerial pingpong ends with Watson firing the ball into touch with a nice effort that just edges into the Italian half, but that rampant start has rather faded, hasn’t it? Instead, England will hope to get through these 10 minutes without conceding.

22 mins: Italy 5-10 England

Hill is in trouble here, and it’s going to be a yellow card for direct contact to the head. He’s only saved because Underhill’s tackle on Padovani first knocked him off-balance, which proved a crucial mitigating factor, but England are down to 14.

22 mins: Italy 5-10 England

The TMO calls for a check as Padovani is down injured, and I think I spotted a high tackle in there from England’s Jonny Hill that may have caught him in the head. It’s going to be checked…

20 mins: Italy 5-10 England

Well I did say England were trying to force it a tad. The exit their 22 well, with Itoje taking the lineout, and the lock does brilliant to dive on a loose ball and win possession back for England. However, Sinckler takes his eye off the ball and spills it into the hands of Canna, who again breaks and quickly passes to Jake Polledri, with the Gloucester No 8 smashing through Youngs and romping away from cover man Jamie George to score in the corner. Garbisi misses the conversion but Italy are on the board.
