From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Courtney Lawes charged down TJ Perenara's 76th-minute box kick and the ball fell to Underhill, who weaved full-back Damian McKenzie inside out to touch down in the left corner.
After reviewing the try with the TMO, however, referee Jerome Garces judged that Lawes had been in an offside position and awarded the All Blacks a penalty.
It was a marginal call and England responded with a late onslaught that failed to produce the crucial winning score, but it was a fine performance from Eddie Jones' men that will serve them well heading into next year's World Cup.
They led from the second minute until the 60th as early tries by Chris Ashton and Dylan Hartley helped them to a scarcely-believable 15-0 lead that was gradually eroded.
Beauden Barrett nudged the All Blacks in front with a penalty as England's play grew progressively worse having set off like a steam train, their forwards bristling with aggression.
The momentum shift began late in the first half and was confirmed by a terrific try from McKenzie.

9 mins: It comes to nothing as Sinckler is penalised for earrly engagement, and New Zealand can clear their lines.
10 mins: I don't belive what I've just seen...the lesser seen drop-goal has returned to Twickenham!
Farrell drops deep into the pocket, givving him all the time in the world to smash over the drop-goal and stretch the lead. 8-0
13 mins: New Zeland put their first real phase of possession together and move into the English 22, but Farrell is up to his old tricks again as he strips Savea of the ball and England kick clear. Ashton is after it and has McKenzie in his sights, but the full-back does brilliantly to send him the wrong way, and dance out of trouble. Barritt then fires a good cross-field kick to safety on halfway.
16 mins: An even passage of play sees Daly rush up for a high one to compete with Ioane, and the ball cannons high off the England full-back and into the arms or Retallick. It's knocked forwards, but when Underhill gets the ruck-turnover referee Jerome Garces comes back for the knock-on.
17 mins: Barrett kicks straight from the scrum across field, and Ashton fields the ball close to the touchline and under pressure from Ioane which forces him into touch.
18 mins: Sonny Bill Williams gets his first touch of the ball, and fittingly a flash of lightning and roll of thunder shudders as he clatters into the England defence. Barrett goes tot he skies again, and McKenziw just can't hold onto it as Youngs fails to take the catch, with the full-back knocking it forward. A let-off for England.
Welcome back to Twickenham, Chris...
Chris Ashton slides in to score a try after just two minutes
22 mins: Barrett's poor kick finds Farrell and he quickly replies, and when the Kiwi fly-half tries to step his opposite number he gets smashed for good measure as he gets rid of possession. England then send a high one up and Barrett cabn't take it, and to make matters worse the All Blacks are offside and England get the penalty. They turn down the points and Farrell finds touch 10 metres out.
24 mins: From the lineout, Itoje sets up the driving maul and within a matter of seconds, the All Blacks are driven back 20 metres to send co-captain Dylan Hartley over after a 14-man maul!
Who said England were lacking power?! (Ok, it was me).
Farrell adds the extras and England lead 15-0.
