From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.England got back to winning ways with an emphatic 57-14 rout of Italy to ensure that their Six Nations title hopes remain alive heading into the final weekend.
Both Manu Tuilagi and Brad Shields scored tries in each half, with Jamie George, Jonny May and George Kruis adding to the landslide seven-try victory, while Italy's two tries came through a first-half score from Tommaso Allan and a late consolation from Luca Morisi.
It means that England trail Wales by just one point going into the final weekend of the championship, although Wales will win the Grand Slam if they beat Ireland next Saturday. Should they slip up though, England can pounce and reclaim the title if they can beat Scotland at Twickenham.

54 mins: Much like the end of the first half, Italy enjoy a sustained period of pressure camped on the England try line...TRY FOR ITALY!
56 mins: Italy work into their 11th phase when the ball is whipped out left, and much like Tuilagi's try, it's a miss pass that does for the defence and sends Luca Morisi over in the left corner. Allan delightfully converts from the touchline. 36-14
60 mins: England make changes as Ben Moon, Luke Cowan-Dickie, Dan Cole and Mark Wilson all come on, but it's Moon who is picked out at the ensuing scrum for collapsing and Italy get a pressure-relieving penalty on their 5m line.
62 mins: More changes as Dan Robson, George Ford and Henry Slade are on for Youngs, Farrell and Slade, while Sergio Parisse is also off along with Morisi. That forces Italy into a major reshuffle, with scrum-half Guglielmo Palazzani at 15, prop Lovotti at flanker and locks all over the place.
64 mins: Ford throws a horror of a pass out to Cokanasiga that's intercepted by Pasquali, but from the ensuing ruck, Tebaldo passes deep to Hayward and he's charged down by George Kruis, who regathers the ball and scores besides the posts. Ford converts, breathing a sigh of relief, and England lead 43-14.
68 mins: Joe Cokanasiga hasn't scored a try today but boy does he deserve one. He's fed the ball by Daly and gasses the struggling Ruzza, before passing inside to give Dan Robson an easy run-in for what is a favourable try among the fans as he bags his first international score. Ford's conversion from a tricky angle brings up the 50 mark and it's been a crushing display from England.
