England v Argentina LIVE rugby: Final score and result from autumn international as England lose by a point
England 29-30 Argentina: Emiliano Boffelli scored 25 points as the Pumas beat England at Twickenham for the first time since 2006
Winger Emiliano Boffelli scored 25 points as Argentina shocked a misfiring England 30-29 to claim their first win at Twickenham since 2006 and end a 10-game losing streak against the team they face in their opening game at the World Cup.
Boffelli scored a superb try and kicked six penalties as the Pumas went toe to toe with the favourites on a horrible wet day to give them a huge boost ahead of next September’s Marseille clash.
England led 16-12 at half-time, with Joe Cokanasiga’s barrelling try a rare attacking highlight and Boffelli landing four penalties to keep Argentina in touch.
The Pumas surged clear as Boffelli finished off a slick backline move and Santiago Carreras added a second try with a 50-metre breakaway, only for England’s replacement scrum half Jack van Poortvliet to score a minute after coming on. Argentina led by a point and it stayed that way after two more penalties apiece as England never threatened to turn it round and their November programme got off to a disappointing start.

WATCH: Boffelli finishes great team move
It’s been a breathless start to the second half and here’s the Boffelli try that started it all.
England 23-24 Argentina - CONVERSION Farrell
56 mins: Simple conversion for Farrell. England within one. This game has seriously livened up!
Sam Simmonds also on as a replacement for Vunipola.
England 21-24 Argentina - TRY Van Poortvliet
55 mins: How about that for immediate impact! Van Poortvliet flies over for the try!
With basically his first touch, he picks up from the base of a ruck and snipes through a gap before showing his speed to race clear for the try. Much better from England.
England 16-24 Argentina
54 mins: Lavanini pinged for offside so England at least get some field position, can they get a foothold back?
Jack van Poortvliet is on at scrum-half for Ben Youngs. The Leicester Tiger is explosive.
England 16-24 Argentina - CONVERSION Boffelli
52 mins: Simple conversion for Boffelli and Argentina move beyond a score ahead...
England 16-22 Argentina - TRY Carreras
52 mins: Have Argentina scored here? SantiagoCarreras scoops up a loose ball and races 60 metres for the interception score but was there a knock-on?
It’s Farrell popping a short pass to Vunipola as Gallo is in on the tackle. A few replays to see whether his fingers touched the ball and knocked it on but ultimately, it’s deemed not and Carreras’ scoop and score stands.
This game has turned on its head!
England 16-17 Argentina
50 mins: This game is finally opening up! Marcus Smith glides past a couple of defenders and makes good ground in the 22. He’s so smooth with ball in hand.
England end up going backwards though as the attack stalls
England 16-17 Argentina - MISSED CONVERSION
48 mins: Touchline conversion and Boffelli errs from the tee for the first time. His kick is just wide
England 16-17 Argentina - TRY Boffelli
47 mins: Wow. That is a sublime try by Argentina, finished by Boffelli.
First-phase lineout ball on the 22, they spread the ball left, a number of dummy runners, a loop round from Carreras and Moroni throws a flat pass to Boffelli on the flank and he slides over.
Where has this Argentina been for the first 45 minutes?
England 16-12 Argentina
45 mins: Another scrum deadens any momentum the game was building as a couple of resets slow things to a standstill.
Argentina win the penalty eventually and Genge doesn’t like something that was said to him as there’s some pushing and shoving. If the Pumas can start to exert some sort of dominance at scrum-time that could help them turn things round.
