From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The second Monster Energy Supersport Race at the Isle of Man TT has been postponed until Thursday after the island was hit with more rain to play havoc with the schedule.

An initial two-hour delay was repeatedly extended as rain hit the west and northern parts of the 37.73-mile circuit, leaving roads too wet for racing to take place in the afternoon.

As a result, organisers have rescheduled the supersport race to be one of four races on Thursday, with Friday's Senior TT brought forward to a 10:30am start due to the threat of rain on Friday afternoon.

What time does it start?

Wednesday’s running at the TT begins at 12:45pm.

How can I follow it?

Races are not shown live from the TT, so the best way to follow the action as it happens is with local radio or The Independent’s live blog throughout the event. Radio coverage is provided by Manx Radio over the fortnight, while live timing is available through the official www.iomttraces.com website.

Wednesday’s schedule

12:45pm: Monster Energy Supersport Race Two

2:30pm: Sidecar qualifying - 1 lap

3pm: Senior/Supersport qualifying - 2 laps

4pm: TT Zero qualifying - 1 lap

6:30pm: Lightweight TT - 4 laps

Revised scedule: There will be no sidercar qualifying today no matter what happens.

It appears as though the rain has stopped and we're waiting on the sun to do its thing...

Jack de Menezes5 June 2019 14:20

So theoretically we're set to go racing in 20 minutes time, except for the fact that the 45-minute klaxon and 30-minute klaxon have both not gone, and the grid is looking rather empty.

Expect a new delay any minute now...

Fresh reports of rain in Castletown, which would suggest there's no chance of a 3pm start.

And now rain at Sarah's Cottage just past Glen Helen.

BREAKING: SESSION CANCELLED

Well there we have it. The Monster Energy Supersport Race Two has been postponed until tomorrow, and the track is being opened up to the public until tonight's 6pm planned closure in an attempt to get the Lightweight TT in the books at 6:30pm. However, with the rain returning, there's no guarantee that will go ahead either.

Well that will wrap up our coverage for now from a hugely frustrating day at the TT. Will this evening's racing go ahead? Only time will tell, but if not, we'll see you tomorrow where, well I won't mention the forecast given today was supposed to be dry!

Join us tomorrow for a bumper day of racing with the superstock, sidecar, TT Zero and supersport races.
