England's World Cup honeymoon was gatecrashed in sensational fashion as Ireland skittled their hosts for a calamitous 85 before taking an 122-run first innings' lead at Lord's.

Just 10 days after their greatest achievement in one-day cricket, England were back at the scene of the triumph to face their neighbours for the first time in the Test arena, an occasion that immediately brought them crashing down to earth. Tim Murtagh, the 37-year-old Middlesex seamer who has spent a dozen years honing his craft at the home of cricket, led the Irish charge with a stunning return of five for 13 while Mark Adair and one-time England bowler Boyd Rankin shared the remaining scalps.

Andrew Balbirnie then passed 50 in response before debutant Olly Stone and Sam Curran took three wickets apiece to eventually dismiss the visitors for 207 on a day where 20 wickets fell.

Here comes Sam Curran.

He strikes with his first ball!

Sam Curran kicks off his international summer in the way he finished it last year.

Curran goes with the short ball and Jack Leach takes a simple catch after Porterfield tries a pull short.

That's hugely a disappointing way for an opening batsman to get out. He dug in, saw off the new ball and was sensible when facing good deliveries, but was caught out there.

Ireland 32/1

13 Ireland 32/1 Andrew Balbirnie 0 James McCollum 11

Here comes Andrew Balbirnie, who is in familiar surroundings having played for Middlesex as a youngster before leaving by mutual consent. He's nailed down this third place in the Ireland team and will want to stick around for a while.

A wicket-maiden from Sam Curran.

14 Ireland 33/1 Andrew Balbirnie 0 James McCollum 12

England put a man at short leg and it almost pays off as the ball flicks off McCollum's pad towards that direction but flies a couple yards wide of the fielder.

15 Ireland 33/1 Andrew Balbirnie 4 James McCollum 12

Lovely shot from Balbirnie to get himself off the mark. He sends Sam Curran's delivery through the covers and towards the short boundary for four. Not the best ball, but it was brilliantly put away.

15.3 Ireland 38/1 Andrew Balbirnie 4 James McCollum 13

That wicket is beginning to change colour and is losing the bold, green tinge it had this morning.

15.4 Ireland 38/1 Andrew Balbirnie 4 James McCollum 13

Olly Stone is getting close to his first wicket as McCollum has a wild swing at a short delivery that carries towards Bairstow behind him.

16.4 Ireland 41/1 Andrew Balbirnie 5 James McCollum 15

Sam Curran is trying some short stuff as he looks to up the aggression and show off his variation. Ireland very happy to dig in.

Nice shot follows from McCollum for a couple of runs after he pushes a fuller delivery down the wicket.

17 Ireland 45/1 Andrew Balbirnie 5 James McCollum 19

McCollum is the benefits from a loose Curran delivery as Ireland add another four runs after the ball bits its pad.

Curran's wicket from his first ball was not the best and it doesn't seem to be swinging out there, which is a problem for the Surrey youngster. England have a quick chat with the umpire about the ball as Stuart Broad comes back into the attack.

17 Ireland 45/1 Andrew Balbirnie 5 James McCollum 19

Just the one wicket for England this afternoon, it's worth mentioning that had lost seven by the 17th over in their brief innings.
