Eoin Morgan's men were on a high after a blistering innings from the skipper himself powered them to a 150-run win over Afghanistan at Old Trafford on Tuesday. But they came crashing down to earth at Headingley as Lasith Malinga shredded their top order on the way to a famous win.
Here's how it played out:

Sri Lanka: 4-2 (3 overs)
Avishka Fernando gets off the mark with a single down to third man, and Kusal Mendis fends off a straight ball to finish off the over.
1 run, 1 wicket in that over - Sri Lanka need to weather this early storm...
Sri Lanka: 4-2 (4 overs)
A maiden for Jofra Archer, as Fernando opts not to take what would've been a risky single on the final ball.

Sri Lanka: 10-2 (5 overs)
Quick single down to fine leg from Mendis puts Fernando on strike straight away.
The Sri Lankan number three gets two with a front foot drive which was half-stopped by Archer at mid-on, and then does exactly the same shot down the pitch on the off-side, another 2.
A quick single on the penultimate ball of the over pushes Fernando up to six runs, and the Sri Lankans are into double figures.
Sri Lanka: 14-2 (5.3 overs)
Sri Lanka have their first boundary of the day!
On ball two, Fernando on his back foot cracks a cover drive powerfully to the boundary.
Sri Lanka: 24-2 (6 overs)
And we have our first six of the match!
On his back foot again, Fernando pulls a short ball over fine leg and into the stands!
He then nails another cover drive to the boundary to finish off the over, 14 from it! Archer won't be happy with that.
And suddenly, Fernando has 20 runs to his name..
Sri Lanka: 26-2 (6.3 overs)
Mendis takes a quick single, but then the ball deceives Fernando and he edges it fortuitously down to third man.
Sri Lanka: 31-2 (7 overs)
There's a pattern forming here: Mendis single, Fernando boundary.
This time, Fernando hits an exquisite drive down the ground, past Archer at mid-on, for four.
