Tiger Woods looks to make cut alongside Rory McIlroy at Genesis Invitational round two – live
Woods lines up alongside Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy at The Riviera Country Club
Tiger Woods is back in action at the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club in California, playing alongside Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy in the feature group, as he looks to build on an impressive opening round. Woods shot a two-under-par 69 to be tied 27th coming into this second round, while Thomas finished round one on -3 and McIlroy scored -4, three shots back from co-leaders Max Home and Keith Mitchell at seven under par (64).
There was a raucous atmosphere following the trio yesterday and the spotlight will no doubt be on Woods even more intensely today after he was caught passing a tampon to friend Thomas after out-driving his opponent, in what appeared to be a sexist joke. Woods is likely to be asked for his explanation of the prank following the round. Follow all the latest golf news as well as live updates from the Genesis Invitational below.

Rory McIlroy with a long putt, almost 30 feet, and he very nearly sinks it. Yet to make a putt of more than ten feet this week, but he finishes the three-footer.
Thomas goes for a birdie from just off the green - good line, just lacking pace. Two-putts for par.
And then the big attraction, the main man, the Tiger himself: he has a ten-foot putt for par after a tough approach. And, after four missed opportunities from similar range or less, Woods sinks it - great save. Stays at two under.

Par four, hole two. Left to right and a nice approach to the green if they can hit left of centre of the fairway.
Tiger with the driver but he’s in the rough and on the right - not his best from the tee for today.
Thomas finds a sweet spot on the left; McIlroy follows Tiger’s path and is just in the gully between fairway and rough.

The whole group looking to two-putt on the first hole and claim pars apiece at least.
Tiger is eight feet to the pin for his birdie attempt but can’t make it three in four - just not happening for him in the sub-ten feet putts so far today. An easy tap-in and he’s still two under.
McIlroy goes from almost 20 feet and needs the two to par. Thomas sinks his close-range for a birdie. Four under.

Thomas takes relief with a drop off the path. He’s 160 from the pin and goes for the front right of the green...but lands it in the bunker.
Woods opts not to drop and sizes up his options from the gravel pathway. It’s well right though and out into the crowd to the far side of the green.

Onto the front nine we go then as the group hits the first hole.
Thomas, McIlroy and Woods tee off the par five, just under 500 yards and straight downhill from the raised tee box.
Woods’ drive actually goes flying past the fairway, over the rough and onto the path beside the course, not far from Thomas’.

A great approach from the fringe from Woods, chipping and rolling it gently down towards the hole. Just a few feet to putt and save a par, which he does.
McIlroy has a long 23-footer for birdie; he plays it safe and soft and it’s just three feet or so away. Par.
Thomas is even further out, 24 feet and uphill, so it’s a much firmer strike and still falls short, but he sinks the second.

Tiger Woods’ ball has landed just up against a divot on the fairway of the 18th. He doesn’t look too happy about it but he’ll have to play from there.
His line isn’t perfect and he’s in the rough beside the green.

It’s 180 to the hole on Woods’ third and his iron shot lands about six feet away. Magnificent strike. The putt is fine and he’s one under again.
Thomas with a brilliant birdie to go three under; Rory just misses his own one to go six under. Par instead.
