Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Europe have won the 2018 Ryder Cup after a thrilling afternoon in the Sunday singles. After coming into the final day 10-6 behind, USA upped the pressure with early points on the board with wins for Justin Thomas, Webb Simpson and Tony Finau.
But the Europeans held their nerve as Jon Rahm, Ian Poulter and Thorbjorn Olesen all won their matches, and they sealed the trophy when Francesco Molinari beat Phil Mickelson when the American conceded 16th tee.
We had all the latest reaction from Paris in the live blog below:

Who's going to win?
USA 10/1
Europe 1/6
Draw 14/1
Jon Rahm (1UP) vs Tiger Woods
Tiger has to make birdie at the par-5 third because Rahm has hit the green in two. It's not easy but he holes it.
Jon Rahm (1UP) vs Tiger Woods
But Tiger's hit a horrible pull on the next tee and has to use all his fusion back power to hulk it out the long rough. It's a good effort but he's well short of the green. Rahm is safely on in two and has the advantage again.
Ian Poulter (1UP) vs Dustin Johnson
Poulter eases it down towards the flag and Johnson misses his bogey-putt after taking three off the tee. He concedes the hole and Poulter is on a roll once again.
Tommy Fleetwood vs Tony Finau (1UP)
Fleetwood gets one back at the third. He hits the green in two on the par-5 and cushions it down into gimme range for the birdie. Finau has about ten-feet for the half and misses. Nervous start over.
Rory McIlroy (2UP) vs Justin Thomas
Ed Malyon is following this group:
Justin Thomas setting up for an important shot at the 7th, down two, when a phone goes off from the crowd. His caddy wades in with a dressing-down for the perpetrator. Thomas composes himself and finds the green, but he'll need to sink a putt from 35-40ft.
Rory McIlroy (2UP) vs Justin Thomas
Ed Malyon:
Roryyyyyyyy! What a shot that is by the Ulsterman, pulling out a wedge and swiping almost laterally underneath that ball to generate the perfect flop-shot trajectory. It rolls gently down to the hole and the 7th is going to be halved.
Jon Rahm (1UP) vs Tiger Woods
Jon Rahm is hot over his uphill putt and thunders it past the hole. It's a terrible three-putt, especially considering the trouble Woods has been in on this hole, and now the American's makeable par save is for the hole. He pulls it from seven feet. Very poor from both players there and things stay the same.
Justin Rose vs Webb Simpson (1UP)
Webb Simpson's second at the fifth lands in a separate continent and he could be hitting a wedge the way he's had to swing at that putt. Even then it still comes up ten feet short and the three-putt gives on back to Rose.
Thorbjorn Olesen (1UP) vs Jordan Spieth
Would you believe it. Olesen, on just his 20th hole of this Ryder Cup, sinks a birdie putt on the par-3 second. He's 1UP on America's golden boy.
