The visitors at Le Golf National led 3-1 after the morning fourballs after Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson all impressed on their way to victories over their European foes. But the hosts came roaring back in the afternoon taking all four matches to completely swing the contest and seize the momentum heading into Saturday

It all gets underway at 12.30pm on Friday morning with the opening fourballs.

Rose & Rahm (1UP) vs Koepka & Finau
It's tense on the green at the eleventh with all four players having unlikely birdie opportunities. Rahm and Rose both come close but it's Brooks Koepka who finds the dagger and chips in from the fringe to claw one back. Rose mutters some cooling words to Rahm as they walk to the twelfth.
McIlroy & Olesen v Johnson & Fowler (1UP)
It's two holes on the trot for the Americans and again it's Fowler who finds the winning putt on ten.

Casey & Hatton vs Spieth & Thomas (3UP)
It looks for a second that Justin Thomas has put this match completely to bed after holing a hugebirdie putt from the fringe but Casey equals him to hold on to a glimmer of hope.
Rose & Rahm (2UP) vs Koepka & Finau
Justin Rose can't even see the hole from the right of the twelfth green but he runs up in time to see it drop and what a celebration as he bumps chests with Jon Rahm. A huge display of emotion and the lead is back to two.
McIlroy & Olesen v Johnson & Fowler (1UP)
Olesen has a putt to draw level but it slips past the hole and it's an opportunity gone for the out-of-form pair.
Molinari & Fleetwood vs Woods & Reed (1UP)
Francesco Molinari sliced his approach shot on the par-5 ninth and with Tommy Fleetwood already mucking out of the rough, it's the simplest of up and downs for Tiger Woods to get him and Reed into red for the first time today. Suddenly Europe are down in three matches.
Casey & Hatton vs Spieth & Thomas (2UP)
But up ahead Paul Casey finally gets one back after a great birdie on the par-3 twelfth.
McIlroy & Olesen v Johnson & Fowler (2UP)
It looks like the Americans are finally going to start pulling away in this match. Dustin Johnson holes a 10 footer for birdie and there's not much coming back at them.
