Brooks Koepka held off the challenge of Viktor Hovland and the surging Scottie Scheffler to win his third US PGA Championship title and fifth major.

Koepka, who felt he had "choked" when holding the 54-hole lead at the Masters last month, kept his cool to shoot a final-round 66 at Oak Hill Country Club.

Hovland kept the pressure on and reduced Koepka’s lead to one with five holes to play - but the Norwegian’s chances evaporated with a double bogey at the 16th.

Scheffler’s fine 65 saw the American get to within two of Koepka, who held on to win his first major since his last PGA Championship in 2019.

The highlight of the day came from club professional Michael Block, the 46-year-old making a hole-in-one on the 15th as he played the final round alongside Rory McIlroy, who finished in a tie for seventh place.

Follow all the reaction and latest updates from Oak Hill below:

Bogeys for DeChambeau and Conners

Conners -3 (7), DeChambeau -3 (7)

With Koepka faltering a bit behind them, it would be the perfect time for this duo to make a move. They do make a move but in the wrong direction. The seventh is played badly by both and it’s bogeys apiece.

Smith sets clubhouse lead

Smith -1 (65)

The low round of the day from the Open Champion is complete after a very handy par save at the last. Five under par and the Aussie finishes at one under for the tournament. Very well played.

Back-to-back birdies for Scheffler

Scheffler -4 (8), Rose -3 (8)

Scheffler is feeling himself here and the world number two makes another birdie to move to four under. Rose has a putt from closer...but it lips out. That’s a bad miss from him.

Birdies for Scheffler and Straka

Scheffler -3 (7), Straka -3 (15)

Scheffler has made the grand total of nothing these last two days but he finally gets on to sticks and jumps up to three under.

Over on the back nine and Straka has three birdies in a row to move him up to three under par.

Bogey for Koepka as lead cut to one

Koepka -8 (6), Hovland -7 (6)

The first time of nerves for our leader and his tee shot goes way left and into the water off the tee. There’s plenty of discussion but he eventually takes a drop and fires in a wonderful third shot to give him a look at par. It’s a long-range effort but it just drifts wide. That’s a bogey for the American but it could have been way worse.

Hovland finds himself in the fairway off the tee but it’s a nervy iron into the green and it catches the greenside bunker. He has to get up and down to save his par from just over eight feet...and he does!

That’s a super putt and the lead is now just one. How quickly it all can change...

Pars for Conners and DeChambeau

Conners -4 (6), DeChambeau -4 (6)

Both of these two make a meal of the sixth but both escape with pars and remain still in it especially with what has just happened behind them with the leader...

Another bogey for Rory

McIlroy E (7), Block +2 (7)

One step forward, one step back for Rory. He flies the green on the seventh and is in the thick rough - the last place he wants to be. He’s unable to get up and down and he moves back to even par. Barring a minor miracle, that feels fatal to his chances.

Block also makes bogey and the club pro drops back to two over par.

Back-to-back birdie for Straka

Straka -2 (14), Perez -2 (9)

Five under for the Austrian today and he joins Scheffler at two under after another birdie.

Perez claims one back on the ninth and he now sits at two under as well after a front-nine 32.

Rose pours on in for birdie

Rose -4 (6), Scheffler -2 (6)

Rose serves up a timely reminder to not forget about him in this contest. The Englishman has just over 20 feet for the birdie and makes no mistake. He’s five back but if he keeps putting like that then you never know...

A sixth-straight par for Scheffler who remains at two under.

Hovland cuts the lead to two

Koepka -9 (5), Hovland -7 (5)

Both of the final pair are safely aboard the fifth green. Koepka goes first and grazes the right edge with his effort - crikey that was close. Hovland steps up...and it’s in! The right length and the perfect line!

No emotion from the Norweigan but internally, he has to be pumped by that.
