From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Your support makes all the difference.Sweden will be desperate to get their first World Cup 2018 finals campaign for 12 years off to a winning start when they face Group F minnows South Korea in Nizhny Novgorod on Monday.
Janne Andersson’s team lack star power without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but formidable organisation and team spirit got them to Russia at the expense of Netherlands and Italy.
South Korea have been hit by injuries in the build-up to this tournament, and expectations are low for the least heralded squad they have ever sent to a World Cup.

Prediction
Sweden 2-0 South Korea: Andersson’s team will have too much in the final third for their opponents, particularly with Emil Forsberg pulling the strings.
56 mins: And they nearly made South Korea pay! Larsson's free-kick is perfect for the arriving Toivonen, and this time the striker gets his effort right. Heading the ball down at the near post, Sweden looked to have grabbed the lead but there was Cho again to push the ball away.
61 mins: South Korean players are down all over the pitch and the upshot is a yellow card for Viktor Claesson. Lee Yong was already prostrate following a coming together with Augustinsson before Claesson dived Hwang Hee-Chan.
63 mins: VAR Review!
The Swedish players are demanding a penalty following Kim Min-Woo's sliding challenge on Viktor Claesson in the box. The original decision of referee Joel Aguilar was to wave play on, but he will now go to the touchline to check the VAR monitors.
64 mins: PENALTY TO SWEDEN!
The Salvadorian referee overturns his original decision and awards Sweden the spotkick.
65 mins: GOAL! SWEDEN 1 SOUTH KOREA 0:
Andreas Granqvist scores! The veteran defender, the Sweden captain, did not seem the obvious choice to take the spotkick, but he shows composure and responsibility by stepping up to send Cho Hyun-Woo the wrong way in sidefooting his effort into the bottom right corner.
67 mins: South Korea make their second substitution with Jung Woo-Young replacing Kim Shin-Wook. With games against Mexico and Germany to come, Tae-Yong Shin's team need some inspiration and quick.
77 mins: Sweden have made a couple of changes in order to hold on to their one-goal lead. On have come Oscar Hiljemark and Isaac Thelin in place of Albin Ekdal and Ola Toivonen.
82 mins: South Korea are running out of ideas. A free-kick in a promising position gives Son the chance to cause havoc, but his delivery is tame and comfortably dealt with by the Sweden goalscorer, Granqvist.
