Mohamed Salah responded to claims his World Cup was over on Twitter, writing: “Everyone in Egypt is together and there is absolutely no disagreement between us. We respect each other and the relationship is great.”
The Liverpool and Egypt sensation missed Egypt’s first game against Uruguay and looked a shadow of the player he was in the 2018-19 season against Russia.

0-0. There’s very little to play for and even less quality on show. Even if Egypt start with Salah, who has shown he is clearly unfit, they lack the creativity to break down defences, including teams a poor as Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, all the half-time talk was about that miraculous penalty save in Volgograd by 45-year-old Egyptian goalkeeper, Essam El-Hadary, on his World Cup debut.

65 mins: Uruguay 2 Russia 0: Cavani takes a tumble in the area under pressure from Ilya Kutepov, but referee Malang Diedhiou isn't interested. VAR do take a look, but it turns out that ultimately they're not interested either.
71 mins: Uruguay 2 Russia 0: The Atmosphere has picked up again even if the Russian performance hasn't. Encouraged by coach Stanislav Cherchesov on the touchline, the home fans are roaring their country on. Can they inspire a most unlikely comeback in the final 20 minutes?
73 mins: Uruguay 2 Russia 0: Almost! That could have been the moment for Russia to claw their way back into the contest, but it's been passed up by Dzyuba. Played in by Roman Zobnin on the right, the striker cut back inside substitute Cristian Rodriguez to give himself sight of goal, only to curl his shot well wide of the target. It's arguably Russia's best chance of the game, and certainly their best since they went down to ten men.
79 mins: Uruguay 2 Russia 0: After a short break in play to allow Lucas Torreira to receive treatment, Uruguay counter again. Martin Caceres' cross from the right is inviting, but it's just not happening for Cavani at this World Cup. The PSG striker throws himself at the delivery but fails to even make a connection.
82 mins: Uruguay 2 Russia 0: In the wrong place, at the wrong time, Cavani yet again is unable to get on the end of a promising Uruguay attack that had seen Suarez come off the left touchline to draw defenders away from the middle.
85 mins: Uruguay 2 Russia 0: Substitute Fyodor Smolov has a go at emulating Suarez's run moments earlier by making inroads down the left himself. He weaves his way past two Uruguay defenders to take himself into the penalty area, but sends his low centre straight into the arms of Muslera. At the other end of the pitch, Cavani gets a shot wrong but that's nothing new.
