From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The Bayern Munich forward has scored 49 goals for club and country over the last year and will be eager to get off the mark against Senegal in Poland’s opening Group H game.
Former Birmingham and Portsmouth player Aliou Cisse is managing a Senegal side not short on quality. Sadio Mane and Idrassa Gueye have had good seasons for Liverpool and Everton, while Diao Balde Keita has been a steady goal scorer for Monaco.
Neither side were at the 2014 World Cup, but both will be very keen to get a positive result to give them a chance of qualifying from their group ahead of Columbia and Japan.

Prediction
3-1: Poland and Lewandowski have been in fairly hot form and are capable of putting a few goals past sub-par defences. Senegal have had mixed results in their warm up games and have not been particularly inspiring.
42 min: CHANCE! Sané meets a corner but fluffs the header into the ground, it was a good chance to double Senegal's lead and Sané knows it
44 min: Free kick for Senegal in Poland's half, can they double the lead?
45 min: 2 added minutes, Senegal look happy to keep possession and go into the break one up
HALF TIME: Poland 0 - 1 Senegal
Senegal have had the better chances but neither team has looked dominant.
Poland have been quite poor, they look slow with very little intensity, here's hoping for a more exciting second half
SECOND HALF: Senegal start smoothly, chipping the ball into Poland's area but substitute Bednarek went down after his clearance
48 min: Lewandowski is taken down by Sane on the edge of Senegal's area, it was a good breakaway from the Polish striker that leads to a free kick
50 min: SAVE! Lewandowski takes the free kick, he gets it over the wall but K N'Diaye pulls off a great diving save
51 min: CHANCE! Sane gets a chance at the other end meeting a Sabaly cross but he can only hit the defenders with the shot
