From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Germany will be raring to get over their surprise 1-0 defeat they suffered against Mexico in their opening Group F game. Hirving Lozano scored the only goal of the game which had the German players scratching their heads and gazing at one-another with confused looks.
In their first game Sweden strolled past South Korea, Andreas Granqvist scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. South Korea failed to register a single shot on target and will certainly be tested against a Germany attacking force with a point to prove.
Group F remains wide open which means anything other than a win for Germany would be a disaster.

- Sweden: 6/1
- Draw: 10/3
Prediction:
Germany 1-0 Sweden. Two defeats in a row just doesn’t happen to Germany at World Cups and Joachim Low will be determined to have his side fired up to make up for previous mistakes. Sweden will make it tough, but ultimately their defensive barrier will not be able to withstand Germany’s attacks.
74 mins: Claesson OFF, and Durmaz on for Sweden. Some fresh legs for the Swedes, which may be useful on the counter
76 mins: Durmaz wins a corner, and a long range effort from Forsberg is collected by Neuer. Every minute must feel like an hour for Sweden as we crawl to the final whistle
81 mins: Timo Werner the next with a golden chance! He slices his effort off target from the edge of the area
82 mins: RED CARD! Turning point for Germany? Jerome Boateng has seen red! Already on a yellow card, he made an awful challenge on Berg, the referee took a moment to think about it and has given it!
87 mins: Hector OFF, Brandt ON. That leaves Rudiger and Kimmich as the only German defenders on the field. Wow.
88 mins: WHAT A SAVE! Olsen flies into the air to deny Mario Gomez. Incredible scenes
90 mins: Five minutes of added time! You can't stop watching this, anything could happen with Germany throwing absolutely everything forward
