Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Australia will be battling it out to reach second, but they are heavily relying on France securing a victory over Denmark.
The South Americans, on the other hand, have not scored at all during their World Cup campaign and will be fighting to take home a few points.
They do have a slight upperhand on Australia, whose last four competitive goals were spotkicks. Peru will be desperate to keep their campaign alive and kicking.
The Socceroos will need to win this game, but will also need to make up the goal difference. The pressure is on.

Odds:
Australia: 9/5
Peru: 11/8
Draw: 23/10
Prediction:
Australia 2-1 Peru. The Socceroos will be working extra hard to secure a place in the top 16, but they will be banking on a Denmark defeat. The South Americans aren't the likely winners and without a point will end up with an early World Cup exit, but who knows? As we've seen so far, anything can happen.
Good afternoon ladies and gents and welcome to The Independent's live coverage of the climax of Group C.
With France through and Peru out all eyes will be on Denmark and Australia as they look to get the results they need to secure progression to the last-16.
We will have all the latest from Moscow and Sochi for you right here so don't touch that dial.
The Australia team is out ahead of their clash with Peru.
Still no place for Tim Cahill.
Sad face.
Over at the Luzhniki there's no doubt who Denmark will be pinning their hopes on.
Ahead of kick-off check out Jonathan Liew's must-read profile of Christian Eriksen.
France's team is out too.
Paul Pogba is out in what looks like a slight change in shape for Les Bleus.
Olivier Giroud keeps his place up top with Atletico Madrid new boy Thomas Lemar on the left and Barca's Ousmane Dembele on the right.
Peru have released their line up ahead of their clash with Australia, here's how both teams stack up side by side
A few changes to Denmark's starting XI, but the main ones are N Jørgensen and Schone out with Braithwaite and Cornelius starting
They're set up in an attacking 3-4-3 formation and will be looking to take the attack to France, remember a win for them today will see them progress
A little reminder of how things stand in Group C ahead of today's matches.
France are already through and a win today would see them top the group, a win for Denmark over Les Bleus would also see them progress and they would leap-frog France to top the group.
Peru are already out of the tournament but their opponents, Australia, could progress with a win.
3-points for the Socceroos would draw them level with Denmark, if the Danes lose, and goal difference would decide who goes through
Got all that, yeah? no? maybe?
The fans are getting ready in the Luzhniki stadium, kick off is in 20 minutes and a draw will be good enough for Denmark but no doubt these guys will be wanting a win!
Support for Peru has been immense at all their games so far and we should expect no less in Sochi today, more scenes like this is what the World Cup is all about!
