Wolves vs Man City LIVE: Premier League result and final score as Kevin De Bruyne nets four
Relive the action as Pep Guardiola’s men extended their lead at the top of the Premier League
Kevin De Bruyne scored four goals as Manchester City restored a three-point lead at the Premier League summit with a 5-1 win at Wolves.
The playmaker rattled in a left-footed hat-trick inside the opening 24 minutes and added another on the hour as City demonstrated the firepower they have even before Erling Haaland arrives next season.
City’s victory was also an emphatic response to title rivals Liverpool’s success over Aston Villa the previous night and tightened their grip on the title race with just two games to play.
The De Bruyne show was briefly interrupted by a Leander Dendoncker strike early on but a late Raheem Sterling tap-in ensured they would score five for a second successive game.
With the extra insurance of a goal difference now plus seven better than their Merseyside rivals, City are closing in on their fourth title in five seasons.
Wolves vs Man City
Wolves man Chiquinho is making his first start for the club this evening... and what a game to make your debut in! Against the Premier League champions!
He made a real difference for Bruno Lage’s win at the weekend as he came off the bench when they were 2-0 down and ended up helping them salvage a point.
The 22-year-old will be hoping he can pick up where he left off this evening.
Guardiola hits back at Evra
Pep Guardiola has pushed back at Patrice Evra’s claims that he doesn’t want leaders or personalities in his teams.
Guardiola, speaking at a press conference ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Wolves, said: “I don’t want personality? Well, I don’t agree, Patrice. I need personalities and good players to play on the pitch.
“I have had nice, incredible players in my past as a manager at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and here. I could give a good list in terms of their personality and character.
“Most of them have won World Cups, European (Championships), Champions Leagues and leagues.
“Maybe Evra is right or maybe he’s doing a good quote to come back to Manchester United to work there. Maybe there’s a good chance now.
“Good, Patrice - if we were together I would show you the personality and character of my players that we have right now, absolutely.”

The Frenchman suggested City lack leaders and personality on the pitch because Guardiola wants to be the only leader himself
Leeds 0-1 Chelsea
There’s been a red card in the Leeds vs Chelsea game and it has gone to Dan James for the home side.
It’s a ridiculous, potentially leg-breaking challenge that has left Mateo Kovacic writhing around on the floor.
A straight red and no complaints can be had. The second game in a row that Leeds have had a man sent off within the first 30 minutes.
Wolves vs Man City
Assistant manager Carlos Cachada has confirmed he will be on the phone with boss Bruno Lage throughout the match as he continues to stay away due to Covid.
He said: “He will be on the phone. He is at the training ground watching the game live and if he wants he can pass a message on to us and we will tell the players.”
About the game, he then added: “Just be ourselves. Compact when we defend. Aggressive when we have the ball. Create the chances to win the game.
“The supporters have been brilliant with us. We have performed well at home and we believe we will perform well tonight.”
Wolves vs Man City
Pep Guardiola has given his assessment of Wolves ahead of Manchester City’s game tonight.
He told Sky Sports: “They are huge competitors, the players. They have a special DNA. They are strong in set pieces and have incredible pace on the counter attack.
“They have incredible runners. They make another fantastic season and it’s always a tough game.
“We know what we have to do. We have to make points to retain the title.”
Wolves vs Man City
Under 30 minutes until kick-off at Molineux in what could prove to be another pivotal night in the Premier League title race.
Wolves will be looking for a similar performance to the one they put in on 27 December 2019 when fought back from two goals down to secure a famous 3-2 victory.
It’s a tall order, though. Wolves have little to play for and Man City will be more motivated than ever.

Burnley will also have enjoyed that goal.

Fernandinho on Erling Haaland’s arrival
Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has given his take to the club signing Erling Haaland.
The Brazilian, who is leaving at the end of the season, told Sky Sports: “It is important. We showed the last five or six years how good we are as a team and we are able to win a couple of Premier League titles.
“I am very proud of our players. When he comes over I guess he will give a lot to this team.”
