Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Championship Millwall are through to the FA Cup quarter-finals after beating League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon 1-0.

The Lions came close to adding to the 1-0 advantage given to them by Wallace's early goal on a number of occasions in the second half but failed to beat Dons goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for a second time.

Millwall join Watford and Brighton in Monday night's quarter-final draw.

Newport 0-0 Manchester City

11 minutes

Fernandinho wins the ball in midfield and has a go from distance. It's comfortably wide of the far post. Newport will be quietly pleased with the start they've made here.

Newport 0-0 Manchester City

12 minutes

Newport win a corner - probably their best route to goal today - but Butler's ball in doesn;t beat the first man. They continue the attack, though, and Matt nearly latches onto a ball in behind.

Newport 0-0 Manchester City

14 minutes

So close! Newport nearly take the lead and it's from another Demetriou long throw. The ball finds it's way all the way through to Bakinson, who's header from close range is brilliantly saved by Ederson.

Newport 0-0 Manchester City

15 minutes

At the other end, Sane works some space on the edge of the box and has a go on his right foot. He gets it all wrong, though, and it flies over the bar to the delight of the home fans.

Newport 0-0 Manchester City

18 minutes

Pep Guardiola does not look particularly happy on the touchline. His side haven't found things easy so far and are clearly struggling to adapt to the playing surface.

Fernandinho has another go from distance but again it's off target.

Newport 0-0 Manchester City

19 minutes

Another long throw causes chaos. Matt heads on and Labadie fires a shot just over on his left foot. Newport are a real threat from set pieces.

Newport 0-0 Manchester City

20 minutes

Mahrez has looked City's most dangerous player so far and he tests Day again from a tight angle, cutting in from the right and going for goal.

Newport 0-0 Manchester City

23 minutes

Again, Mahrez cuts in on his left foot and has a go. This time, though, he doesn't test Day, instead firing just wide of the far post. Newport have got plenty of players back when City attack and the visitors are finding it difficult to break them down.

Callum Rice-Coates16 February 2019 17:56

Newport 0-0 Manchester City

26 minutes

City don't look prepared for these long throws. Another one is launched in and Ederson comes out to claim. He misses the ball, though, and it drops loose in the box. Fortunately, for City, it doesn't fall for a Newport player.

Callum Rice-Coates16 February 2019 17:59

Newport 0-0 Manchester City

29 minutes

Newport, for the first time, make a defensive error and David Silva pounces on it. He weaves his way into the box but he's blocked off and the home side clear the danger.
