The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Follow the latest action from the Premier League below.

West Ham United vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Despite dominating for large parts at London Stadium, Brighton settle for a goalless draw with fellow top-six hopefuls West Ham in the Premier League. Areola was forced into some eight saves, his most in a league home game since making 10 against Manchester City in September, as the Seagulls controlled proceedings on the road. Substitute Ferguson went close, as did Gross on two occasions, while Moder blazed over a great opportunity towards the end of the second half. As for the Hammers’ attacking chances, Ward-Prowse was denied in the first half by Steele, while Soucek prodded wide after the interval. Moyes will see it as a good point, although this marks a first clean sheet of the season for De Zerbi’s visitors, who move up to seventh in the league table and one place behind the hosts. Both sides now take a break from league action to take part in the FA Cup third round, in which West Ham host Bristol City on Sunday, while Brighton visit Stoke City the day before. That is all for now, until next time – goodbye!

Estupinan bursts down the left flank before standing up a delicate cross that Hinshelwood heads straight at Areola. That will be game over at London Stadium.

It has been over 30 minutes since West Ham last attempted a shot in this game. This has been a turgid end to this clash from the Hammers.

Ferguson needlessly clips the ankles of Ogbonna, who races out of defence before winning a cheap free-kick inside West Ham's half. This game will likely end as a goalless draw, which would represent Brighton's first clean sheet of the season.

There will be at least five additional minutes to end this game as West Ham continue to cling on in the face of a stream of Brighton attacks.

WHAT A STOP! London Stadium erupts with frustration as Gross is afforded too much room to roll through the middle for Lallana. The former Liverpool midfielder spins on the edge of the area before his whipped right-footed strike is pushed away by a diving Areola, who keeps West Ham in this clash once again with his seventh stop of the game.

No other player at London Stadium has had more shots than Ferguson (three), who was only introduced to the game in the 67th minute. Can the Brighton forward find a decisive late goal?

OVER! Milner has space on the left flank from Lallana's throughball and delivers a curling cross towards the penalty spot. Gross cannot make the required contact but the loose ball falls to Moder, who can only blaze over at the back post when unmarked. De Zerbi drops to his knees on the touchline after yet another Brighton miss.

Johnson, on his first Premier League start of the season, has an issue in the far corner and needs some medical attention from the West Ham staff. It looks like a touch of cramp, which Moyes will hope the right-back can battle through to finish this game that remains level heading into the final minutes.
