This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

West Ham United vs Aston Villa

West Ham have to settle for a point at home to Aston Villa, as the home side are twice denied by the VAR during an eventful second half that ends 1-1 at London Stadium. Between both efforts being chalked off, Villa scored an equaliser through substitute Zaniolo, following Antonio's first-half header. Either side enjoyed periods of dominance, in a rather uneven encounter that came shortly after European triumphs for the two clubs - Villa bossed the ball, but their hosts were sharper from set-pieces. As a result of this draw, the visitors increase their advantage over Tottenham to three points in the Premier League table, while West Ham are now within three of Manchester United. The Irons visit Newcastle United after the international break; Villa will host Wolves. That's all from today's live coverage, so thank you for joining us and goodbye!

GOAL RULED OUT! West Ham's winner is chalked off! There was a handball offence by Bowen before Soucek turned in an attempted shot by Mavropanos, so it remains 1-1 at the London Stadium! The home fans are in uproar!

PITCHSIDE REVIEW! After a long review by the VAR, now the referee sprints over to the pitchside monitor for a look at Soucek's finish himself. It seems that Bowen may have handled the ball, just before the midfielder prodded it in!

HAVE WEST HAM WON IT? With typical accuracy, Ward-Prowse delivers a dangerous free-kick into the box, before a desperate scramble ends with Soucek bundling the ball over the goal-line! He got the final touch, after Mavropanos tried to turn it home from a couple of yards out! That would be 2-1 to the Hammers, but will it stand? The VAR has got a lot to assess here, amid a chaotic scene! What a climax!

BRILLIANT BLOCK! A superb run up the right by Kudus opens up space, allowing Ward-Prowse to strike with power from near the penalty spot - but Cash dives in to make a goal-saving intervention! Surely that would have nestled in the net! Great defending!
