Follow live coverage as West Ham United face Arsenal today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Arsenal head across the capital in good spirits after thumping Sporting CP 5-1 in Portugal on Tuesday night. That success lifted Mikel Arteta's men into a coveted top-eight place in the Champions League table, following hot on the heels of an equally convincing 3-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest. The latter result ended a four-game winless streak in the English top flight and kept the Gunners just inside the top four - only one point behind an ailing Manchester City, who will face Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow.

West Ham's 2-0 win at Newcastle United last week pulled them further away from the Premier League drop zone, with strikes either side of half-time securing the Irons' first away victory since late August. Julen Lopetegui's side have taken seven points from the last nine available on home turf, sinking Ipswich Town and Manchester United before sharing the spoils with Everton. Despite the clubs' relative positions, only one of West Ham's last four matches against Arsenal has ended in defeat.
