Follow live coverage as West Ham United face Arsenal today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

West Ham United vs Arsenal

Arsenal climb to second place in the Premier League following a comprehensive defeat of London rivals West Ham. A true game of two halves ends 5-2 to the Gunners, with all seven goals coming during a frantic first half. Gabriel's headed opener set the stage for strikes from Trossard and Havertz, plus penalties converted by Odegaard and an irrepressible Saka. To their credit, West Ham hit back: Wan-Bissaka scored for the second time in a week and Emerson fired home a fine free-kick. The hosts' final xG of 1.29 was overshadowed by Arsenal's 3.02, demonstrating just how dominant the away side were before half-time. Neither team risked much after the break, with the Hammers apparently consigned to their fate. While West Ham will be back in action on Tuesday, when they visit fellow strugglers Leicester City, Mikel Arteta's men can look forward to a home game against Manchester United one day later. That's all from a remarkable encounter at the London Stadium, so thank you for joining us and goodbye!

There will be at least five additional minutes at the end of this match. In the first, Ings slips clear of Saliba and then skips past Raya, before running a little wide and firing a low shot wide of the left-hand post.

It's fair to say there's been quite a contrast between the end of this half compared to that of the first. There's little happening now, as Arsenal cruise towards a comprehensive victory that will take them above Brighton in the table.

The introduction of Ings has added another dimension to West Ham's play, giving Arsenal's defence something different to deal with. However, the home side have been unable to carve out any clear-cut chances.
