From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Follow live reaction after West Ham United beat Manchester United today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The Hammers picked up their third win of the campaign by beating United 2-1, with all the goals coming late on. Crysencio Summerville slid in the opener at the far post for the hosts, before Casemiro looked to have won a point for United when he headed in from close range at the other end. But Matthijs de Ligt was then adjudged to have fouled Danny Ings in the box in stoppage time and Jarrod Bowen buried the resulting penalty to give the Hammers victory late on.

Manchester United sit just three points and three places above West Ham in the table, after a similarly underwhelming start to the campaign for Erik ten Hag’s men. The Red Devils have already suffered heavy home losses to Liverpool and Spurs, but snapped a four-game winless streak with a 2-1 victory over Brentford last time out.
