Follow live reaction after West Ham United beat Manchester United today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The Hammers picked up their third win of the campaign by beating United 2-1, with all the goals coming late on. Crysencio Summerville slid in the opener at the far post for the hosts, before Casemiro looked to have won a point for United when he headed in from close range at the other end. But Matthijs de Ligt was then adjudged to have fouled Danny Ings in the box in stoppage time and Jarrod Bowen buried the resulting penalty to give the Hammers victory late on.

WIDE!!! West Ham press high up the pitch and a smart Summerville flick gives Antonio shooting space. He cuts inside and looks to pick out the far corner, but sends his curling strike just wide of the upright!

OVER!!! How on earth are Manchester United not 1-0 up?? Again the Hammers are opened up with ease as Fernandes’ ball over the top is latched onto by Dalot. Fabianski races out to meet him and misses the ball completely, but with only the goal to aim at, Dalot somehow puts his half-volley high and wide when it looked easier to score than miss!

WIDE!!! Rashford picks out Garnacho with a dangerous ball to the far post, but the winger's first-time strike on the volley crashes into the side netting!

Garnacho is released into space down the left as Manchester United spring forward on the counter, and after he’s clattered by a sliding Mavropanos on the edge, the Greek defender is shown a yellow card despite Garnacho being flagged for offside!

OVER!!! Soler’s corner finds Paqueta in the middle, and a looping header from the Brazilian has Onana beaten in the corner before landing on top of the net!

The Irons spring forward on the break as a switch of play releases Bowen down the flank. He's got Summerville in support, but cuts inside to shoot and sees his effort blocked by Mazraoui!

After a lengthy delay for Onana to receive treatment for a head knock after that collision with Antonio, the Manchester United keeper gets play back underway despite Erik ten Hag seemingly being ready to replace him.

Bowen does brilliantly to keep a Hammers half-chance alive, forcing the issue and playing a one-two with Wan-Bissaka before his cross ricochets behind off Fernandes.

Paqueta clips Fernandes late and then denies the Portuguese from taking a quick free-kick, earning himself a blatant and needless yellow card for delaying the restart.

West Ham’s four changes from their last Premier League game is the most Julen Lopetegui has made from one match to another this season.
