From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Your support makes all the difference.Last week Real Madrid finally announced the signing of Eden Hazard for a fee that could come to exceed £150m. Elsewhere, Daniel James has agreed to his £18m move from Swansea to United.
The future of Matthijs de Ligt meanwhile remains uncertain, with the 19-year-old defender currently linked to a host of clubs eager to land his signature. And Liverpool continue to press for the signature of Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.

Arsenal are meanwhile set to push on with their first signing of the summer with a bid for Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser set to be lodged. A new centre-back is high on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s priority list at United with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Leicester’s Harry Maguire both options. Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka is another on the Norwegian’s radar.
It won’t just be incomings at Old Trafford, however, with Paul Pogba a high-profile target for Real Madrid and Alexis Sanchez on his way out with Inter Milan and Juventus fighting it out for his signature – if he drops his wage demands. And Liverpool could be active too as they look to go one better after failing to win the Premier League title by just a single point.
Betis unimpressed by Levy
It appears that notoriously frugal Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has managed to irritate another club.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim that Real Betis saw his opening offer of £40m for Giovani Lo Celso as ‘something of a joke’.
That’s because Betis have to give Paris Saint-Germain 25% of any profit they make from the player. So Tottenham’s initial bid would have left them with just £30m for a player with an £88m release clause in his contract.
Negotiations continue.
De Ligt opens up on future
Matthijs De Ligt has revealed the deciding factors for where his future lies.
The Ajax star has dismissed money as a motivating factor, insisting he wants to just play.
The Dutch international told Mundo Deportivo that he is evaluating Barcelona's offer, with Manchester United, PSG and Juventus all in the running.
Sarri expected to leave 'in next 48 hours'
Chelsea expect manager Maurizio Sarri to leave the club for Juventus in the next 48 hour, according to The Express.
Fitness coach Paolo Bertelli is also expected to leave, with Inter Milan’s Giovanni Martusciello targeted as Sarri’s assistant.
The Express meanwhile suggest that Frank Lampard, Max Allegri, Steve Holland, Erik ten Haag, Nuno Espirito Santo and Javi Gracia are on the shortlist to replace Sarri.
Neymar and PSG set for divorce
Neymar and PSG could be set for a 'divorce,' that's according to Catalan paper Sport.
This could open up the possibility for a sensational return to Barcelona, who will look to re-sign the Brazilian, who is currently out injured and will miss the Copa America, once they have been given the green light.
The report suggests Neymar is not happy in the French capital and the Ligue 1 champions are receptive to selling.
Roma appoint Fonseca as new manager
Roma have appointed former Shakhtar boss Paulo Fonseca as their new manager.
“We are delighted to welcome Paulo Fonseca to the club,” said AS Roma president Jim Pallotta.
“Paulo is a young and ambitious coach with international experience, a winning mentality and a reputation for bold, attacking football that will excite our fans.
“From the very first conversations we had with him, he made it very clear he wanted to come to Roma and was excited about the challenge of working with our players and putting out a team that the fans can be proud of.”
Pogba now Real Madrid's primary target for summer
Paul Pogba is now Real Madrid's primary goal for the remainder of the window, report Marca.
The Manchester United star is Zinedine Zidane's most important request.
He could join compatriot Ferland Mendy, who will likely join Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Eder Militao at the Bernabeu in an expansive rebuild.
Gnabry urges Sane to join him in Munich
Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry has urged Germany team-mate Leroy Sane to quit Manchester City and join him at the Allianz Arena.
“I would love to have him in my team. We get along really well, also off the pitch,” said Gnabry, as quoted by the Mirror.
“He would help any team and it's very fun for me to play with him. He would be a real asset for Bayern Munich.”
He added: “I would say hello to him with a special handshake. I've already asked him about this topic, but he is the only one who can tell us what will happen.”
Why Hazard is one of the signing of the summer
Belgium boss Roberto Martinez believes Eden Hazard is the "perfect fit" for Real Madrid.
The midfielder has joined the Spanish giants from Chelsea for a package that could reportedly end up as much as £130million.
Martinez, preparing to play Scotland in their Euro 2020 qualifier on Tuesday night, insists Hazard has made the right move.
He said: "He's in the best moment of his career, at the age of 28, winning titles in different leagues.
"He can build a new project wherever that is as he's one of the special signings of the summer.
"For Real Madrid, he's a phenomenal footballer to get. There couldn't be too many new chapters to his career so probably the only place he could go and win titles (is Madrid).
"I think it is the perfect fit. He's a player who's gone through clubs and can be treated as a hero. We're all looking forward to how that new chapter at Real Madrid starts."

Juventus already planning rebuild
Maurizio Sarri is all set to swap Chelsea for Juventus and has already identified his top two targets, according to report in his native Italy.
Tuttosport believe Sarri will move for Matthijs De Ligt and Marcelo.
The Old Lady are currently negotiating with the Blues, who appear ready to grant Sarri his wish to leave after delivering the Europa League.
AC Milan have entered the race to sign Cagliari's star midfielder Nico Barella.
Inter had been the front runners, with Chelsea and Liverpool previously linked.
