There have been some notable done deals so far, including Arsenal wrapping up a loan deal with Real Madrid for Norway midfielder Martin Odegaard. While the injury problems are piling up for Jurgen Klopp, who continues to discuss his club’s lack of business this month, with Joel Matip’s injury perhaps finally forcing a change of heart over whether to sign a short-term solution to their defensive crisis.
Tottenham, too, could look for options late in the window with the news Harry Kane is injured again with an ankle problem. While Manchester United could dip into the market to steady their title challenge, which took a hit with defeat to Sheffield United on Wednesday - Christoph Baumgartner is among the names linked to Old Trafford this month.
There will be exits at United too with fringe players likely to be pushed out the door, including Jesse Lingard, who will likely stay in the Premier League and has been linked to West Ham.
Elsewhere Tottenham have made contact with Angel di Maria about a possible move to the north London club, according to L’Equipe, as the 32-year-old’s contract runs out this summer. First, PSG want to bring Spurs midfielder Dele Alli the other way on loan until the rest of the season.
Reports in Germany say the new Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel already has already identified the RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano as his top target as he seeks to make an impact at Stamford Bridge. Frank Lampard’s sacking has meanwhile had the knock-on effect of leaving West Ham more confident than ever of keeping hold of Declan Rice. Follow all the latest news below.
TOTTENHAM CONSIDERING MAKSIMOVIC MOVE
Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Jose Mourinho is in search of another central defender, in light of the various injuries sustained by Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez this season.
Maksimovic’s contract at the southern Italian club expires at the end of the campaign, and Spurs could make a move to sign the Serbian on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Italian outlet Spazio Napoli also claims that Tottenham could attempt to sign Maksimovic this month for a small fee.
Maksimovic is a reserve in the Napoli back line, behind Kalidou Koulibaly and Kostas Manolas in the pecking order.
MAN UTD EYE RAMOS DEAL
Man Utd are eyeing a deal for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, but won’t ‘aggressively’ pursue the defender.
The Sun reports that the Madrid stalwart is liked by the United hierarchy, but that the club won’t ruffle any feathers.
This is due to a ‘non-aggressive’ pact that was made by the majority of the European powerhouses in the wake of the pandemic, which has decimated football revenue across the globe.
Clubs are hoping to stop wages from inflating, and to keep transfer fees down, and have thus agreed not to aggressively sign players from one another.
United are thought to be huge admirers of the vastly experienced Ramos, and reports in Spain state that there is little chance of his contract being renewed, as it stands.
TOTTENHAM EYE NEUHAUS
Jose Mourinho will be focused on tonight’s match with Liverpool, but Spurs remain active in the transfer market and engrossed in a top four battle, meaning business in the next few days could make all the difference.
With Dele Alli potentially leaving, Spurs are keen on Florian Neuhaus of Borussia Monchengladbach, report the Mirror.
