Conflicting reports have once again emerged over Paul Pogba’s possible world record transfer to Manchester United after Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri insisted he has ordered the midfielder to report back in Turin on Monday for pre-season training, despite the claim being made that Pogba will fly to Manchester this weekend to seal his move.

Italian newspaper La Stampa claims that Pogba will travel back from his holiday in the United States to England on Sunday in order to undergo a medical and finalise terms on his £275,000-a-week contract that will see the France international return to Old Trafford four years after leaving.

With United poised to spend a world record £112m on Pogba – despite allowing him to leave for £800,000 in 2012 – the Manchester Evening News reported on Saturday that United manager Jose Mourinho wants Pogba to travel to Manchester this weekend in order to complete the deal.

It’s added that United wanted to confirm the deal last Thursday, but an unexpected delay meant that the Premier League club were unable to unveil their new signing as planned.

Having already signed Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer, Mourinho has confirmed he is looking to make just one more signing before the start of the season.

However, Juventus manager Allegri has thrown a spanner in the works by speaking out to confirm he has ordered Pogba to report back to the club on Monday for pre-season training.

Along with France teammate Patrice Evra, Pogba has been afforded extra time off this summer following Euro 2016, where the French side reached the final before coming unstuck to Portugal.

Pogba has made the most of his time off, visiting Miami, Los Angeles and New York where he has been partying with rapper Drake, but it appears his next destination will be Turin and not, as has been reported, Manchester.

"Mourinho rightly says he's not talking about Pogba because he's a Juventus player,” Allegri said in a pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend’s pre-season friendly against West Ham at the Olympic Stadium.

"I've summoned Pogba together with [Patrice] Evra [to report for pre-season duty] tomorrow night, so that means he has training here in Vinovo on Monday.

"It makes no sense at the moment talking about potential replacements for Pogba because, right now, Pogba is a Juventus player."

Pogba tells fans he's staying at Juventus

Allegri was responding to Mourinho’s claim that he will have his fourth signing, believed to be Pogba, secured by next weekend.

"I don't like to speak about other players. Other managers like to do that,” Mourinho said on Friday.

"What matters to me is only what happens in my house, not the house of my neighbour.

"Pogba is a Juventus player until officially he isn't. It stays like this."

"Honestly, the market closes on 31 August, but I think my club is trying to do everything to close our market before 14 August. So hopefully by next week we will have our squad closed."
