There was no late deal for Croatia international Domagoj Vida, while earlier in the day Ousmane Dembele laughed off speculation he could quit Barcelona for London.
It was a busier day in terms of outgoings, with 29-year-old forward Lucas Pérez ending his two year association with the club with a cut-price deal to West Ham.
And the likes of David Ospina, Joel Campbell and Danny Welbeck could yet move abroad. Here’s a full round-up of Arsenal’s day.

Good morning and welcome to The Independent's live coverage of transfer deadline day.
Arsenal have enjoyed a strong summer window - but could they add another two surprises before the deadline?
The Gunners appear satisfied with their lot but could they go back in one more time?
Ousmane Dembele has been linked with a season-long loan move from Barcelona while Domagoj Vida, who impressed at this summer's World Cup, is also an option. There could be exits too with Danny Welbeck, David Ospina and Lucas Perez all surplus to Emery's requirements.
We will have the very latest throughout the day.
New manager Unai Emery has added five new faces already.
Central defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos arrived from Borussia Dortmund, Stefan Lichtsteiner arrived from Juventus on a free transfer and goalkeeper Bernd Leno made the move from Bayer Leverkusen.
Emery also sealed deals for Uruguayan international Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria and also snapped up highly-rated Frenchman Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient.
Arsenal have been busy this summer but could have one more up their sleeve before 5pm.
The Evening Standard suggest a £26m move for Besiktas' Domagoj Vida could be on the cards after the Croatian impressed at the World Cup.
And Mundo Deportivo in Spain say the Gunners are exploring a late £10m loan for Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele.

News of a potential outgoing.
David Ospina finds himself down the pecking order after Bernd Leno joined current No 1 Petr Cech at the club this summer.
Sky Sports report that Napoli and Besiktas are both keen on a loan deal for the Colombian while the Gunners are holding out for a permanent transfer.
One player who certainly won’t be joining Arsenal today is Cristian Pavón.
As we reported yesterday, Arsenal will not be reigniting their interest in Pavón ahead of this evening’s transfer deadline, although the Argentina international could be allowed to leave for the Premier League after Boca Juniors’ Copa Libertadores campaign.
The 22-year-old forward has been persistently linked with a move away from Boca this summer, with both Arsenal and Roma interested in bringing him to Europe.
However sources close to the player have told The Independent that Pavón will remain at Boca beyond this summer’s transfer window, as the club attempt to win their seventh Copa Libertadores title.
Boca have recently strengthened their attack by signing former West Ham striker Mauro Zárate from Watford for an undisclosed fee, leading to speculation that the club was paving the way for Pavón’s imminent departure.
So, West Ham United confirm they have signed Lucas Pérez.
It’s understood the fee is somewhere around the £4m mark, which represents a quite staggering loss for Arsenal given that they signed the player from Deportivo La Coruña for £17.1m just two seasons ago.
But Arsenal will be happy enough to get Pérez off their books, they’ve been offering him around to clubs for a good few weeks now, after Unai Emery decided the 29-year-old was surplus to requirements after run-outs against Boreham Wood and Atlético Madrid.
It’s also a good move for the player. Pérez was very reluctant to leave Arsenal as we reported last week, but remaining in London is arguably the next best thing.
