From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Welcome along to live coverage of all Friday’s transfer news, rumours, gossip and done deals from around Europe as the deadline approaches. There have been some notable done deals so far, including Arsenal wrapping up a loan deal with Real Madrid for Norway midfielder Martin Odegaard. While the injury problems are piling up for Jurgen Klopp, who continues to discuss his club’s lack of business this month, with Joel Matip’s injury perhaps finally forcing a change of heart over whether to sign a short-term solution to their defensive crisis.

Tottenham, too, could look for options late in the window with the news Harry Kane is injured again with an ankle problem. While Manchester United could dip into the market to steady their title challenge, which took a hit with defeat to Sheffield United on Wednesday - Christoph Baumgartner is among the names linked to Old Trafford this month.

There will be exits at United too with fringe players likely to be pushed out the door, including Jesse Lingard, who will likely stay in the Premier League and has been linked to West Ham.

Elsewhere Tottenham have made contact with Angel di Maria about a possible move to the north London club, according to L’Equipe, as the 32-year-old’s contract runs out this summer. First, PSG want to bring Spurs midfielder Dele Alli the other way on loan until the rest of the season.

Reports in Germany say the new Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel already has already identified the RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano as his top target as he seeks to make an impact at Stamford Bridge. Frank Lampard’s sacking has meanwhile had the knock-on effect of leaving West Ham more confident than ever of keeping hold of Declan Rice. Follow all the latest news below.

‘NO MORE SIGNINGS AFTER LINGARD’

West Ham manager David Moyes admits that the Hammers won’t be bringing in any more players if Jesse Lingard’s loan move from Manchester United gets over the line.

Lingard is having a medical in London today and Moyes says the 28-year-old will provide West Ham with ‘attacking options’.

CHAIR SIGNS QPR EXTENSION

Ilias Chair has signed a new four-and-a-half-year deal with Championship side Queens Park Rangers. He initially joined the club in 2017 and is nearing 100 senior appearances for the London club.

I’m very happy – my family is happy, my friends are happy, everyone is happy for me.

“I think it’s what the fans deserve and what the club deserves from my part.

“The club has given me everything from day one. I came in as a young 19-year-old boy and now, I’m still young, but I’ve grown so much in those four years.

“I’m absolutely delighted for the fans as well that young players like me are committing to the club for a very long time. They play such a big part because they support me every single game.

“Ups and downs happen in a season but the fans are always behind me and they give me that confidence to keep going.”

WOLVES NOT RULING OUT MORE SIGNINGS

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo is not ready to rule out any new signings or any more departures from Molineux before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

When asked about whether recalled striker Patrick Cutrone could be sent back out on loan Nuno replied:

As long as the transfer window is open, anything can happen. It will be over on Monday - until then, let's see what's going on.

"We have to wait. The intention about recalling Patrick [Cutrone] was mainly because we needed (him), and because he was not in a good position in Florence.

"So we decided to call him back, and now I count on him, his work and his training, but anything can happen. So let's wait and see."

BIELSA OFFER ALIOSKI UPDATE

Ezgjan Alioski is into the final few months of a four year deal with Leeds United and manager Marcelo Bielsa says the decision to stay at Elland Road remains with the player. Bielsa said:

I'm only one opinion with regards to the equation of whether Alioski stays or not. The most important thing is that he wants to stay.

"When it comes to a player staying at the club, the first and most important thing is that the player wants to stay, the player should choose the club and after the club will decide whether they want him. I think if Alioski chooses Leeds, Leeds will choose Alioski."
