Chelsea hungry for more?
The imminent signing of Cole Palmer looked likely to be Chelsea’s last incoming transfer of the window but perhaps not. According to reports in Brazil’s UOL, the west London club have submitted a €25m bid for 17-year-old Gabriel Moscardo.
The deal would reportedly see the young midfielder remain with Corinthians into next year.

Dean Henderson set for Sam Johnstone battle after Crystal Palace move
Dean Henderson will have to fight for a place at Crystal Palace ahead of a £15m move from Manchester United. The signing is seen as one for depth and the future of the squad at Selhurst Park.
The intention is to retain Sam Johnstone as the Eagles No 1 goalkeeper, having started all four of Palace’s games this season.
Johnstone has been recalled to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for games against Ukraine and Scotland. The decision from Southgate reflects his recent form at Palace and Roy Hodgson is hugely content with the 30-year-old.

Wolves eye up Nunes replacement
With Mattheus Nunes expected to complete a £47m deal to join Premier League champions, Manchester City, Wolves may well have to dip back into the market as they look to bolster their options in the middle of the park.
According to the Evening Standard, that man could be Fulham’s Harrison Reed with Wolves having made an initial approach about bringing the 28-year-old to the Midlands club. Reed has started two of Fulham’s three league games so far this season but could be allowed to leave if Marco Silva’s side can agree a deal to bring Alex Iwobi to the club from Everton.
Romelu Lukaku, a chessboard and the Jose Mourinho phone call that lured him to Roma
It was, not for the first time in football, a Jose Mourinho call that proved persuasive. The Roma manager last week rang Romelu Lukaku personally to say he was exactly what they were missing.
“We have a good team but we are missing a champion,” Mourinho said. The Portuguese also explained to Lukaku exactly how he would work with Paulo Dybala.
The hope is that the loan move reignites Roma’s faltering start to the season, and Lukaku’s career. Staying at Chelsea, while something that manager Mauricio Pochettino at least toyed with, was never really on. The club want to go in a new direction based on younger players developing in their career and capable of going to higher levels.
After a drawn-out transfer saga, Lukaku finally has his move. Read the latest from Miguel Delaney on how the Belgian ended up reuniting with former boss Mourinho in Rome:
