Sol Campbell pokes fun at infamous Spurs-Arsenal switch

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United are clubs to watch in the finals days of the January transfer window. Erling Haaland has signed a bumper new extension at Manchester City, while it appears that Benjamin Sesko will not be an option for the Gunners as they target a new striker.

Mikel Arteta is also targeting a new midfielder, with Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi appearing to be set on the Emirates over Anfield or with Man City at the Etihad.

Arne Slot’s Reds continue to negotiate with soon-to-be out-of-contract trio Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk, with the right-back linked with a possible free transfer to Real Madrid.

While Manchester United are looking to sell Marcus Rashford, Kyle Walker could be on his way out of Man City, though, after informing Pep Guardiola of a desire to explore options away from the club and Milan and Inter are battling for the right back.

Elsewhere, Chelsea, currently in a rotten spell of form under Enzo Maresca, could negotiate a swap deal with Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel, inserting out-of-favour striker Christopher Nkunku into a deal.

Follow all the latest news, rumours and deals below, plus analysis on the done deals and where new signings will fit into the starting line-ups:

Arsenal in the market for a new striker

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the side are looking to sign a striker in the winter window.

Asked about the club’s plans after the win over Spurs last night, Arteta said: “Yes, for sure. Because we lost two players, big players, Bukayo [Saka], who can be out for up to three months, that’s a long time, and Gabby [Jesus], who is going to be out for a long, long, long time."

"We are going to try for sure. We are actively looking at [a new forward].

“I think we have lost two very, very important players, we have 14 players in the squad, and we play every three days. We will try but let’s see who we can get,” he added.

Keegan says that Chelsea have not made a decision on the sale yet, though it could present an opportunity at instant profit, especially with the return of Trevoh Chalobah to boost defensive options.

Madrid to land defensive duo?

Spanish outlet Marca is reporting that Real Madrid have agreed deals (with the players themselves) for both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies.

Alexander-Arnold would likely move for free in the summer, though there is still a possibility that he agrees a new deal at Anfield.

Davies is also reportedly set to be offered a new deal by Bayern, who hope that wages of around €25m per year may be enough to tempt him to stay.

Ipswich want more January signings

Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna says the club still want more signings in Januar as they hope to avoid relegation and remain in the top-flight.

Ipswich completed the signing of Jaden Philogene from Aston Villa on Tuesday for a fee in the region of £20m and McKenna wants more firepower to boost their chances of Premier League survival.

“We’ll try to, if we can find quality that can improve us,” he said, “I think our depth is pretty good now. If we can get everybody back fit, our depth is fine.

“But if we can add quality that can help the starting XI or quality that can help from the bench, then we’ll certainly aim to try and do so – but only if the right players are available that can really push us on.”
