Premier League: All the transfer rumours as deadline day approaches

Chelsea have completed the signing of Enzo Fernandez for £106m, in what is a British transfer record. The Blues met Benfica’s release clause for the Argentina midfielder shortly before Tuesday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

A statement from the Portuguese side confirmed the deal past midnight after Chelsea rushed to complete the transfer.

It came after Manchester United signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich until the end of the season. The Austria international adds to United’s midfield options after Christian Eriksen was ruled out for three months with an ankle injury.

Brighton held on to midfielder Moises Caicedo, but Arsenal turned their attention to another target and signed Jorginho from Premier League rivals Chelsea in a £13m deal.

Elsewhere, Tottenham confirmed the signing of right back Pedro Porro, with Matt Doherty joining Atletico Madrid on a free transfer after his contract with Spurs was terminated by mutual agreement.

Everton turn to Andre Ayew to solve scoring woes

Latest from Miguel Delaney: Everton have turned to Andre Ayew late in the window to try and solve their scoring issues, and are in advanced talks about a deal.

The 33-year-old Ghanaian international was most recently at Al Sadd in Qatar, having previously had a respectable Premier League career at Swansea City and West Ham United.

The Independent has been told that Everton cast around in order to try and bring in a forward, with their issues exacerbated by the fact their budget is limited.

Fenerbahce’s Michu Batshuayi and even West Ham United’s Michail Antonio had been names put forward but many deals were impossible, which has left the club looking to Ayew.

Nottingham Forest seek new goalkeeper

Spare a thought for the City Ground fax machine - it’s been a busy season of incoming and outgoings by the River Trent since Nottingham Forest’s return to the English top tier, and there could yet be one more new face in through the door before January concludes.

Dean Henderson could miss more than a month of action with a muscular issue, and Forest are said to be actively seeking some goalkeeping cover. While Steve Cooper played coy yesterday, PSG pair Keylor Navas and Sergio Rico have both been connected with the club.

Atletico Madrid chase deadline day deal for Tottenham wing-back Matt Doherty

Atletico Madrid are considering a loan move for Tottenham Hotspur‘s Matt Doherty, with Diego Simeone having instructed the hierarchy to bring in a right-back this window.

The Spanish club have already failed in two bids for Olympique Marseille’s Jonathan Clauss, but there is a good relationship with Spurs after recent moves and the Irish international has been broached as an option. The 31-year-old has been in and out of Antonio Conte‘s side this season but is valued by the Italian, and there is a feeling his strengths could fit what Simeone wants.

Talks are underway after Atletico raised the prospect of a move and Doherty is in Madrid to discuss the move. There is not expected to be any option or obligation for the loan to become permanent.
