Tottenham kept themselves in the top-four race with a 5-0 hammering of Everton, who are in grave relegation danger after a gutless showing in north London. Spurs have been inconsistent in recent weeks but showed their best as, after Michael Keane’s own goal put them ahead early on, they ran riot, with Harry Kane scoring twice and Son Heung-min and Sergio Reguilon also netting.

It was another Kane masterclass, with his second goal a particular highlight, and he took his tally to 14 goals in 15 games against Everton. This was as bad a performance as the Toffees have put in this season and there has been no bounce under Frank Lampard, with a fourth loss in five league games since he took over. There is little doubt that they are involved in a relegation dogfight as they are just a point above 18th-placed Burnley, though they do have a game in hand.

Spurs equalled their best ever Premier League win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will now have real belief that they can gate-crash the Champions League qualification places. Follow the reaction and analysis after Spurs thrash Everton in the Premier League:

GOAL! Tottenham 5 - 0 Everton (Kane, 55’)⚽️

55 mins: Superb finish from Harry Kane! Eric Dier heads the ball wide from the Tottenham corner but the home side win it back after Jordan Pickford gets the game restarted.

It’s played across to Matt Doherty in midfield who floats an aerial pass into the left side of the box. Harry Kane nips in behind Mason Holgate and meets the dropping ball with a volley back towards the far post where it hits the inside of the upright and rolls over the line!

Tottenham 4 - 0 Everton

54 mins: Chance! Tottenham should have five! Dejan Kulusevski brings the ball just inside the Everton box and threads a pass to Son who is wide open. He should put his foot through a shot and lace it past Pickford but tries to set up Davinson Sanchez instead and Everton block it behind for a corner.

Tottenham 4 - 0 Everton

52 mins: Chance! Everton aren’t giving up. They’ve got themselves in some decent areas and Dominic Calvert-Lewin has come close on a couple of occasions. His first effort comes from the front edge of the box and gets blocked by Eric Dier. The second comes after the striker makes a sharp run into the right side of the area and slots his effort back across goal only to send it wide of the back post.

Tottenham 4 - 0 Everton

49 mins: Here’s a chance for Everton to get a foothold in the game. They win a free kick about 25 yards out from goal but Anthony Gordon smokes his shot straight into the Tottenham wall.

Cristian Romero - who’s on a yellow card - gets replaced with Davinson Sanchez after Tottenham clear their lines.

GOAL! Tottenham 4 - 0 Everton (Reguilon, 46’)⚽️

46 mins: What an introduction! Everton send the ball up to Anthony Gordon on the right wing but Sergio Reguilon tackles him quickly and knocks the ball up to Son Heung-min. He drives it up to the box and slots a pass over to Dejan Kulusevski. Reguilon joins the attack and arrives at the opposite side of the box just as Kulusevski slots the ball across the area. It finds the Tottenham substitute who taps it home to give Spurs a fourth!

Tottenham 3 - 0 Everton

Jordan Pickford made his 200th Premier League appearance this evening (starting all 200) on his 28th birthday.

Pickford is the fifth player to reach this milestone on his birthday after Noel Whelan, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Pablo Zabaleta and Victor Moses.

It hasn’t been the best way to celebrate so far. Can Everton find a way back into the game in the second half?

Half-time: Tottenham 3 - 0 Everton

45+3 mins: A bruising half of football comes to an end for Everton leaving Frank Lampard pondering on how to turn this game around. Tottenham have just been the better team. They created the best chances and taken them. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have been on fire once again and Everton are finding them too hot to handle.

Tottenham 3 - 0 Everton

44 mins: Everton are pushing forward just before the break but they’re playing so high that there’s loads of space in behind. There’s no signs of limiting the damage from Frank Lampard here.
